Missed calls on Xiaomi smartphones can turn into a real headache: constant notifications on the lock screen, beeps and pop-ups distract from work and prevent you from focusing. Especially annoying when the phone reminds you of a missed call an hour, a day or even a week after the event itself. In this article, we will examine all possible ways to turn off these reminders, from standard MIUI settings to hidden functions of the engineering menu.
The problem is relevant for all Xiaomi lines, from the budget Redmi Note to the flagship Xiaomi 13/14. The reason for the appearance of annoying notifications lies in the logic of the MIUI shell, which by default stores the history of calls and actively reminds of them. Fortunately, the manufacturer has provided several ways to manage these alerts β you just need to know where to look.
Why is Xiaomi constantly reminding you of missed calls?
The MIUI system uses a complex notification algorithm that takes into account:
- π± The firmware version is in MIUI 12-14 The logic of the notifications is different
- π Phone app settings β here are hidden the main reminder triggers
- βοΈ System permissions β some functions (e.g., βAssistantβ) may duplicate alerts
- π€ Android Version - on Android 13/14 New restrictions on notifications have been introduced
The main reason for the annoyance is the Missed Call Reminder feature, which is activated by default in the Phone app, which works even if you have turned off the notification sound in the general settings, and in some versions of MIUI, you can duplicate alerts through the system application Security.
Important: On devices with global firmware (EEA/Global) and Chinese (China), the settings may differ - in the Chinese versions, some menu items are hidden without unlocking the bootloader.
Method 1: Disabling reminders in the "Phone" app
The most obvious and safe method is to change the settings of the standard Phone app, which works on all Xiaomi models, including POCO and Black Shark:
- Open the phone application (icon with tube)
- Slip on three points in the upper right corner β select Settings
- Go to Call Notifications or Missed Reminders (name depends on MIUI version)
- Turn off the sliders: π Reminder of missed calls π Pop-up notifications π Sound alert
Save the changes and restart the phone

On some models (e.g. Xiaomi 12T or POCO F5), the path may be slightly different: Phone Settings β Additional β Reminders. If you donβt find the right item, try searching by settings (the magnifier icon in the upper right corner).
β οΈ Note: Once you disable these settings, you will no longer receive any missed call notifications, including important ones. If you only need to leave alerts for selected contacts, use Method 3 with exception settings.
Method 2: Managing Notifications through System Settings
If the phone application fails to disable, check the notification system settings. Often the problem lies in duplicate alerts from Security or Assistant:
- Open Settings β Applications β Application Management
- Find your phone in the list and tap it.
- Select Notifications β disable all categories (Missed Calls, Voicemail)
- Go back and find the Security (or Security) app.
- Disable notifications for Call Protection and Spam Blocking categories
| Annex | Category of notifications | Action. |
|---|---|---|
| Phone. | Missed challenges | Shut down. |
| Phone. | Voice mail. | Shut down. |
| Security | Defending challenges | Shut down. |
| Assistant | Event reminders | Shut down. |
For Android 13/14 models (Xiaomi 13/14, Redmi Note 12), an additional control layer has been added: Settings β Notifications β Additional β Special Access. You can turn off permission to display notifications on the lock screen.
π‘
If notifications continue to appear after disabling, clear the cache of the Phone and Security applications in the Settings β Applications β Storage section.
Method 3: Set up exceptions for important contacts
If you want to leave notifications only for selected numbers (such as family or work), use the Exceptions feature:
- Open Contacts and select the desired number
- Tap it on three points. β Edit
- Scroll down and turn on the option Important Contact or Favorites
- Return to Phone Settings β Notifications
- Activate only for selected contacts
On some firmware (MIUI 13+), this functionality is moved to the Settings β Memory and RAM β Autocleaning section, where you can add the Phone application to the exception list.

It is useful for enterprise users to know that Xiaomi supports integration with Google Contacts. If you sync contacts with a Google account, you can manage exceptions through the web version of contacts.google.com (Tags section).
Method 4: Use of the Engineering Menu (for advanced)
If the standard methods don't work, you can use the hidden settings through the engineering menu, which is suitable for advanced users and requires caution:
1. Open the Phone app.
2 Enter the code ##4636##
3. Select "Phone Information"
4. Scroll to the Battery Settings block
5. Find the option "Optimize notifications" and disable it
6. Go back and select "Usage Statistics"
7. Turn off Call Monitoring.β οΈ Warning: Incorrect changes to the engineering menu can cause malfunctions in the phone. On models with a locked bootloader (for example, the Chinese versions), access to some options may be limited.
For Qualcomm Snapdragon devices (most Xiaomi/Redmi), an alternative code is available: ##225### - it opens the calibration menu, where you can disable Missed Call Notifications in the Call Settings section.
π‘
The engineering menu allows you to disable notifications at the system level, but changes can be reset after the MIUI update.
Method 5: Reset the settings of the "Phone" application
If all previous methods failed, reset the settings of the standard Phone application, which will return all parameters to factory values, but will not affect the call history or contacts:
- Go to Settings β Applications β Application Management
- Find your phone and tap it.
- Select Warehouse β Clear Data and Clear Cache
- Confirm the action (the application will restart)
- After reset, reset notifications according to Method 1
For diagnosis:
- Launch your phone in Safe Mode (press the power button β Safe Mode) If notifications go missing, it's third-party software that's to blame.
- Check the logs of system errors through Settings β About phone β Error report.
- Update the firmware to the latest version through Settings β System Update.
If the problem persists, consider manually flashing through the Mi Flash Tool (see the instructions for your model on the xiaomi.eu forum).
