Why Users Want to Remove Google Assistant from Xiaomi TV and How to Do It Safely
Google Assistant is built into all modern Xiaomi TVs (Mi TV 4/5, Redmi Smart TV, Mi TV Q1/Q2, etc.), but not all users need it. The main reasons for turning it off are constant voice notifications, random noise alarms, browsing data collection and even slowing down the interface on budget models. Moreover, some firmware assistant can not be turned off by standard means β you need hidden commands or resets.
In this article, you will find 5 working methods, from simply turning off the microphone to completely removing it through ADB. We tested the instructions on the Xiaomi Mi TV P1 2022, Redmi Smart TV X55 2021 and Mi TV 4S 2020 models, but the methods will also work for other devices on Android TV or Google TV.
Before you start, check the firmware version of your TV in Settings β About TV. If you have PatchWall (Xiaomi shell), some of the features may be hidden - for these we have provided separate solutions.
Method 1: Turn off voice and microphone in standard settings
The easiest method is to deactivate the microphone and Google Assistant's access to voice, which won't remove the assistant completely, but will prevent accidental activations and audio data collection.
Instructions:
- π Go to Settings. β The device β Voice input (or Settings) β Smart home. β Voice assistant on new models).
- π Find the option βGoogle Assistantβ and translate the slider to the position βOff.".
- π€ In the Microphone section, disable Allow Microphone Access for all voice-related applications.
- π Restart the TV through Settings β On TV. β Reboot.
β οΈ Note: Some firmware (PatchWall 3.0 and below) may lose voice search on YouTube or Netflix after the microphone is turned off. If you want to search for voice in apps, use Method 3 (partially disable).
