How to permanently disable the voice assistant on the phone Xiaomi: 5 proven ways

Voice assistants on Xiaomi smartphones are both a useful tool and a source of irritation for many users. XiaoAI (a Xiaomi-branded assistant) and Google Assistant can be activated accidentally, eat up battery power or simply interfere with everyday use, especially for owners of Redmi Note 12, POCO X5 or Xiaomi 13 models, where voice control is integrated at the system level.

After that, the assistant will stop running on the voice or button, but its icon can remain in the app menu to hide it:

1. Press the XiaoAI icon on the home screen.
2. Drag it to the top of the screen where it says Delete or Hide.
3. Confirm the action.

⚠️ Note: Some firmware (especially Chinese) may lose the functionality of Quick Commands (e.g., flashlights with voice) after XiaoAI is disabled. If you need these features, use method 4 (partially disable).

If your Xiaomi has global firmware installed (for example, MIUI Global or EEA), then Google Assistant works with XiaoAI. It is easier to disable it – just remove updates or disable auto-start.

3. Complete disabling via ADB (no root)

This method allows you to permanently delete the Google Assistant or prevent it from auto-starting without obtaining root permissions. It is suitable for all Xiaomi models, including the Redmi K50 and POCO F5. You will need a computer with drivers installed and USB debugging enabled on your phone.

Instructions:

1. Connect your phone to your PC and open the Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (macOS/Linux) in the folder with ADB.
2. Enter the command to check the connection: Adb devices must appear serial number of your device.
3. To completely remove Google Assistant, do: adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox
4. To disable XiaoAI autostart, use: adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.voiceassist
5. Reboot the phone.

After these actions:

Instructions:

1. Open the Phone app and enter the combination: ##4636## Testing menu will open.
2. Select Phone Information (or Usage Statistics on Global Firmware).
3. Scroll down and find Voice Services or Voice Interaction.

Hidden MIUI settings allow voice assistants to be disabled without deleting their files, which is safer than ADB or root, but can reset once the system is upgraded.

6. What if the assistant is still activated?

If XiaoAI or Google Assistant continues to run after all the manipulations, check the following points:

Reason 1: Auto-Running through Other Applications

• 🔄 Go to Settings. → Annexes → Auto-start.
• 🚫 Turn off AutoRun for XiaoAI, Google, and Miui Voice.
• 📱 Also check the section Special Permits → Permissions for other applications and ban access to microphone for unnecessary services.

Reason 2: Activate with a button or gesture

On some models (such as the POCO X3 Pro), the voice assistant runs:
