Xiaomi Redmi 7 is one of the most popular budget smartphones of 2019, but even after years, its owners face non-obvious problems. One of them is cleaning the call log, which sometimes does not work as expected. In this article, we will analyze all the ways to delete the call history, from standard to hidden MIUI features, and also explain why some numbers can return after deleting due to synchronization with Google or MI-account.
Have you ever noticed that after cleaning the log, calls reappear after a few days? Or that some numbers just don't get deleted? It's not a bug, but a feature of MIUI and cloud services. We'll show you how to guarantee that you erase history, either partially or completely, including hidden system logs.
Method 1: Standard cleaning through the application "Phone"
The most obvious method is to use the built-in tools of the Phone app, which is suitable if you need to delete individual records or the entire story at a time.
Open the Phone app (the handset icon on the home screen) and go to the Log tab, where you'll see a list of all incoming, outgoing and missed calls to delete the individual entry:
- 📞 Press and hold your finger on the desired number.
- 🗑️ In the menu that appears, select Delete.
- ✅ Confirm the action in the pop-up window.
For mass removal:
- Slap the icon. ⋮ (three points) in upper right corner.
- Select Delete Call Log.
- Check the numbers or click Select All.
- Confirm the removal with the OK button.
⚠️ Note: This method only deletes local records if you have Google Contacts sync enabled or MI Cloud, history can be restored the next data update.

Method 2: Clean up via MIUI settings (hidden section)
MIUI has a hidden partition for managing system data, including a call log, which is useful if standard deletion doesn't work.
Go to Settings → Applications → Application Management. In the list, find your phone and tap it.

- 🧹 Click Clear Data (this will delete the entire history of the calls and settings of the application).

Method 3: Recovery Mode Removal (for power users)
If the call log is not cleared due to a system failure, you can use Recovery Mode, which is suitable for Redmi 7 with an unlocked bootloader or custom firmware.
To get into Recovery:
- Turn off the phone.
- Press the buttons Power + Volume up at the same time.
- Wait for the MI logo to appear and release the buttons.
In the Recovery menu (management is carried out by volume and power buttons):

- 🗃️ Tap Wipe Cache (this won’t delete data, but will clear temporary files, including possible duplicate calls).

Method 4: Disable sync with MI Cloud and Google
The main reason that call history returns after deletion is sync with cloud services.The Xiaomi Redmi 7 defaults to save the log in MI Cloud and Google Contacts.
To turn off synchronization:
- ☁️ For MI Cloud: Go to Settings → Accounts. → Mi Account. Select Sync. Turn off the slider opposite the Call Log.
- 🤖 For Google: Open Settings → Accounts. → Google. Select your account. Turn off Contact Sync (includes call log).
Once you have disabled the sync, re-clean the log through the Phone app. Now the story doesn't have to be restored.

If you want to save contacts but only delete the call log, export contacts to the file before disabling synchronization. VCF: Contacts → ⋮ → Contact management → Imports/Exports.
Method 5: Radical method - reset to factory settings
If none of these methods work, the last option is to completely reset the phone, and it will not only delete the call log, but all the data, applications and settings.
Before discharge, it is mandatory:
- 📱 Backup important data (photos, contacts, messages).
- 🔐 Make sure you know the username and password from the Mi Account (after resetting the phone will require authorization).
- 📡 Connect your phone to Wi-Fi (after reset, you will need to download updates).

Settings → About the phone → Resetting settings → Resetting all settings
Once confirmed, the phone will restart and return to factory status, a method that guarantees it will delete all call history, including system logs that can be stored in hidden memory.

Why are some numbers not deleted?
If you notice that individual records do not disappear even after reset, the reasons may be as follows:
- 📞 SIM card: Some operators (for example, MTS or Beeline) keep the call history on their side and can display it in the Phone application as a Cloud Log».
- 🤖 Google Duplex: If you have used the services of a virtual assistant, the records can be stored in Google Activity.
