Why Clean Up Your Alarms on Xiaomi and When It’s Needed
Xiaomi smartphones (including the Redmi, POCO and Mi lines) are equipped with a built-in “Clock” app that is responsible not only for displaying time, but also for managing alarm clocks, timers and stopwatches. Over time, the list of saved alarms can grow to dozens of positions — especially if you often use the “delay” function or create one-time reminders.
First, the interface is clogged. Every extra alarm clock is on the list, making navigation more difficult. Second, the risk of accidental alarms – old alarm clocks can be activated at the wrong time (for example, at night if the time coincides). Third, the load on the system: the background processes of the com.miui.analytics and com.android.deskclock applications can consume additional resources if too many records are stored in the database.
Cleaning alarm clocks is relevant in the following cases:
- 📱 You sell or transfer your smartphone to another user and want to delete personal data.
- ⏰ The alarm clock list became unreadable due to the large number of old records.
- 🔄 After updating MIUI The alarm clocks are duplicated or are not working properly.
- 📴 The app “Clock” began to slow down or issue errors.
In this article, we will look at all possible cleaning methods, from standard to advanced, including resetting through ADB and working with system files, and learn how to avoid re-accumulation of unnecessary alarm clocks.
Method 1: Removing alarm clocks through the standard “Clock” app
The easiest and safest method is to use the built-in Clock app, which is suitable for all Xiaomi models based on MIUI 12-14 and HyperOS, including the Redmi Note 12, POCO X5, Xiaomi 13T and others. The instructions are universal and do not require root rights or technical skills.
To remove individual alarm clocks:
- Open the Clock app (an icon with a dial on the home screen or in the app menu).
- Go to the tab "Alarm clock" (bell icon in the lower menu).
- Find the alarm clock you want to remove and hold your finger on it for 1-2 seconds.
- At the top of the screen will appear the icon of the basket – click on it.
- Confirm the removal in the pop-up window.
For mass removal of all alarm clocks:
- 🔄 Press three points (⋮) in the upper right corner of the tab "Alarm clock».
- 🗑️ Select “Delete All Alarms” (or similar, depending on version) MIUI).
- ✅ Confirm the action in the dialog window.
Note that this method only removes active alarm clocks, but does not clear the app cache or system files where data about past alarms can be stored.

Method 2: Reset the settings of the “Clock” application through the Android settings
If standard deletion failed or alarm clocks are restored after rebooting, the cause may be a damaged cache or application data, in which case resetting settings for the com.android.deskclock application (or com.miui.analytics in some firmware) will help.
Instructions:
- Open the “Settings” of the smartphone.
- Go to the "Applications" section → "Application Management".
- In the search bar, type in “Clock” and select the app from the list.
- Click on "Storage" (or "Memory").
- Slip on the buttons “Clear cache” and “Clear data”.
- Confirm the action and restart the smartphone.
Once reset, all alarm clocks, timers and response histories will be deleted, and importantly, this method will also reset the clock’s display settings (12/24 hour format, widgets, etc.), so they will have to be reconfigured.
What happens if you reset the data of the Clock app?
If alarm clocks continue to recover after reset, this may indicate:
- 🔄 Sync with your Mi Account (if backup is enabled).
- 📱 Damage to system files MIUI (need to be reflashed).
- 🤖 Conflict with third-party alarm clock management apps.
Method 3: Removing alarm clocks through MIUI Optimization (for advanced users)
MIUI firmware has a hidden MIUI Optimization feature that allows you to manage system processes, including alarm clocks, which is suitable for users who are willing to work with hidden settings and understand the risks.
To access MIUI Optimization:
- Open the Phone app and enter the code: ##4636###
- In the menu that appears, select “Phone Information” (or “Testing”).
- Scroll down and find the option “MIUI Optimization” (may be called “MIUI Optimized Settings”).
- Turn off the switch next to “Enable MIUI Optimization” and restart the smartphone.
After optimisation is disabled:
- 🔧 Return to "Settings» → «Annexes» → «The clock».
- 🗃️ Additional options will now be available in the Storage section, including cleaning shared_prefs — files where alarm settings are stored.
- 🔄 Delete all data and restart the device.
⚠️ Attention: Disconnection MIUI Optimization can lead to unstable interface, increased battery consumption and conflicts with some system applications.
This method is effective if alarm clocks are associated with system processes MIUI, but requires caution. If after manipulation the smartphone began to work slower, perform a reset to factory settings (see Method 5).
Method 4: Using ADB for deep cleaning (without root)
If standard methods don’t work, you can use Android Debug Bridge (ADB), a debugging tool that allows you to manage system files without superuser permissions, which is suitable for users willing to work with the command line.
What you need:
- 🖥️ Computer with installed Xiaomi and ADB-tools drivers.
- 📱 Included debugging by USB on a smartphone (see instructions below).
- 🔌 Cable USB (preferably original).
Steps to clean alarm clocks through ADB:
- Activate Developer Mode on Xiaomi: Go to Settings → About Phone → MIUI Version. Tap the version 7 times until the “You’re a developer” notification appears.
USB-debugging
- Return to Settings → “Advanced” → “For Developers”.
- Activate the “Debugging by USB” switch.
- Connect your smartphone to your PC and open the command line (or Terminal on Mac/Linux).
- Enter the command to check the connection: adb devices (should display the name of your device).
- Do the data cleanup of the Watch app: adb shell pm clear com.android.deskclock or for MIUI: adb shell pm clear com.miui.analytics
Once reset, the smartphone will reboot to its original state, as after purchase, and all alarm clocks and associated data will be deleted without recovery.
| Cleaning method | Difficulty | PC required | Removes all alarm clocks | Risk to the system |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Clock Appendix | ⭐ | ❌ No. | ✅ Yes. | ❌ No. |
| Data resetting of the annex | ⭐⭐ | ❌ No. | ✅ Yes. | ⚠️ Low. |
| MIUI Optimization | ⭐⭐⭐ | ❌ No. | ✅ Yes. | ⚠️ Medium. |
| ADB | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ✅ Yes. | ✅ Yes. | ⚠️⚠️ High-pitched |
| Total reset | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ❌ No. | ✅ Yes. | ⚠️⚠️⚠️ critical |
If you sell or transfer a smartphone, we recommend you do a complete reset, which is guaranteed to delete all personal data, including alarm clocks.
💡
Before selling a smartphone, be sure to completely reset your settings. Even after removing alarm clocks through the Clock app, their data can remain in the system files and be restored by the new owner.
How to prevent unnecessary alarm clocks from accumulating in the future
To avoid clogging the alarm list again, follow these tips:
- 🔄 Check the alarm list regularly (once a month) and remove unnecessary alarms.
- 🚫 Don’t use the “delay” function too often – every delayed alarm clock is saved in history.
- 📱 Turn off alarm clock sync with Mi Account if you don’t use it: Go to Settings» → «Accounts» → «Mi Account. disable the option "Sync Application Data».
- 🛠️ Install a third-party alarm app (like Google Clock or Alarmy) if the standard one is not running smoothly.
- 🔄 After updating MIUI Check the alarm list – sometimes they are duplicated.
It's also useful to know:
- 📌 V MIUI 14 and HyperOS alarms are automatically archived after 30 days without use, and can be manually removed in the Archives section of the Watch app».
- 🔊 If the alarm doesn’t work, check the permissions for the Watch app in Settings» → «Annexes» → «Permits».
By following these guidelines, you will be able to keep the alarm list in order and avoid having to clean completely.
