DVB-T2 digital TV has become the main way to watch free air channels in Russia and many other countries. Xiaomi Mi TV 4A (including models 4A 32, 43, 50" and 55") supports this standard, but not all users know how to properly configure channels to get a stable signal without interference. In this article, we will discuss all the ways of setting up - from automatic search to manual adjustment of parameters, and also tell you how to fix typical problems: no signal, "hang" channels or low image quality.
Many people mistakenly believe that it is enough to simply connect the antenna and start a search β but in practice, the quality of reception depends on many factors: the location of the antenna, the power of the nearest tower, even weather conditions. Xiaomi TV 4A has hidden tuner settings that allow you to manually specify the frequency of multiplexes, which is especially useful in areas of low signal. If you live in an apartment building, you may need to use an amplifier or a collective antenna. We will explain in detail how to check the signal level and select optimal parameters for your region.
1. Preparing the Xiaomi 4A TV for channel setup
Before you start looking for channels, make sure your TV is ready to handle digital signals.
- πΊ Connect the antenna to the RF IN connector (usually located on the back of the TV). If you use an amplifier, plug it into the network.
- β‘ Check power: The TV must be connected directly to the outlet, without extension cords, which can cause interference.
- π‘ Orient the antenna toward the nearest TV tower, and you can find out its location on the RTRS website.
- π Update your TV firmware to the latest version, and this will eliminate any possible tuner errors. Way: Settings β About TV β System Update.
If you live in a low-signal area, we recommend using an active amplifier antenna (such as the Locus L 032.11 or Rexant RX-25). Passive room antennas often can't handle all 20 channels (2 multiplexes) in densely built cities. Also check if the cable is bent - this can degrade the signal.
β οΈ Warning: If you connect an antenna through a splitter, make sure it supports DVB-T2 frequencies (470β862 MHz). Cheap splitters can block the signal.
2. Automatic search for digital channels
This is the easiest way that most users can use, and it automatically scans all the frequencies available and stores the channels they find. Here's how to do this:
- On the remote, press the Menu button (or Settings on some models).
- Go to Settings β Channels β Channels β Autosearch.
- Select the signal source: antenna (DVB-T/T2).
- Please indicate your country (or your country if you are outside of it).
- Run the search with the OK button.
It takes 3-10 minutes. When you finish, the TV will show you the number of channels it's found. If there are fewer than 20 channels (for Russia), then the signal is weak or the antenna is not configured correctly. In this case, move to manual tuning.
Check the connection of the antenna to the RF IN connector
Make sure that you choose a country in Russia (not Europe or Asia)
Repeat the search by resetting the channel settings (Settings β Channels β Reset)
Try changing the position of the antenna or using an amplifier-->
Manual channel scanning (for power users)
If the automatic search didn't work, try manually setting up, which allows you to enter multiplex frequencies manually, which is especially useful in areas with unstable signals.
- Go to Settings β Channels β Channels β Manual search.
- Select the signal type: DVB-T2.
- Enter the frequency of the first multiplex (for Russia it is usually 546 MHz or 778 MHz, but for exact data see the RTRS website).
- Click Search and wait until it is completed.
- Repeat for a second multiplex (e.g., 698 MHz).
After manually searching, save the channels you find. If the TV doesn't find any channels, check:
- πΆ Signal level in the settings menu (must be at least 60%).
- π Cable quality β Use a 75 Ohm coaxial cable.
- π The direction of the antenna β even a slight shift can impair reception.
How to find out the frequency of multiplexes for your region?
| Region | 1 multiplex (MHz) | 2 multiplex (MHz) | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Moscow and the region | 546 | 698 | Strong signal, usually enough room antenna |
| St. Petersburg | 778 | 746 | In the city center, there may be interference from high-rises |
| ekaterinburg | 602 | 770 | Street antenna is recommended |
| krasnodar | 578 | 690 | Frequent frequency changes due to testing of new towers |
4. Signal optimization: how to improve reception quality
Even if channels are found, the image can either split into squares or freeze, which is a sign of a weak signal. Here are some ways to improve reception:
- πΆ Use a signal amplifier (e.g., Terra HA123 or Locus LA-20U). Level-adjusted amplifiers will help avoid overload.
- π Reposition the antenna, if it's on the windowsill, try hanging it on the wall or ceiling, and avoid being close to metal objects.
- π Replace the cable: old cables with damaged wiring degrade the signal. The optimal length is no more than 10 meters.
- π οΈ Adjust the antenna to signal strength: In the TV menu (Settings β Channels β Signal status), look at the Level and Quality scale. Turn the antenna until both are 70-80%.
If you live in an apartment building, check if there's a collective amplifier on the roof, sometimes it's turned off because it's malfunctioning, and then the individual antenna becomes the only solution, and if you ask your neighbors what channels they're catching, it can help you determine if there's a problem in your antenna or in the general infrastructure of the house.
π‘
If you have an old satellite converter (LNB), donβt use it for DVB-T2 β itβs not compatible with the overhead signal and will only make reception worse.
5. Solving typical problems when setting up
Even after successful channel search, there can be difficulties, and let's look at the most common channels and how to eliminate them:
| Problem. | Possible cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| No signal (0%) | The antenna is not connected or damaged | Check the cable and connectors, try another antenna |
| Not all channels are found (for example, only 10 out of 20 channels) | A weak signal from one of the multiplexes | Repeat manual search by frequency of missing multiplex |
| Channels "freeze" or crumble into squares | Unstable signal or interference | Install the amplifier or change the direction of the antenna |
| TV doesn't save channels after search | Firmware failure or lack of memory | Reset channel settings and repeat the search |
If after all the manipulations, the channels do not appear, try resetting the TV settings to the factory:
- Go to Settings β About TV β Reset settings.
- Enter. PIN-code (default 0000 or 1234).
- After restarting, reconfigure the channels.
β οΈ Warning: If you use a digital set-top box (e.g., Xiaomi Mi Box), you can configure the channels through it, not through the TV menu, in which case you can connect the set-top box to the HDMI- port and configure the channels in the interface.
6. Additional settings: sorting and parental control
Once you've successfully searched for channels, you can sort them by your preferences, and you can also set up parental controls if you have children in the house.
- π Channel Sort: Go to Settings β Channels β Channel Management. Select a channel and press OK, then use the β/β buttons on the remote to move. Save the changes.
Parental control
- In the channel menu, select Channel Block.
- Install. PIN-code (remember it!).
- Please note the channels that need to be blocked.
Update of channel list
Settings β Channels β Update the list
Xiaomi TV 4A also has a Favorites feature that allows you to create a separate list of frequently viewed channels.
- Press the FAV button (or β ) on the remote.
- Select a channel and add it to your favorites.
- You can now switch between your favorite channels without going through the entire list.
π‘
If after sorting channels are lost, try to disconnect the TV from the network for 1 minute - this will reset the tuner's cache.
7. Alternative ways to watch digital TV on Xiaomi 4A
If setting up air channels is difficult, consider alternative options:
- π‘ Satellite TV: Connect a satellite antenna and receiver (e.g., Xiaomi Mi TV Stick with DVB-S2 support). This is true for remote regions where the signal is weak DVB-T2.
- π IPTV: Many providers (e.g., Rostelecom, MTS) offer IPTV packages. This requires connecting the TV to the Internet via Wi-Fi or cable.
- π± Mobile Apps: Install apps like Tricolor TV, Wink, or OKKO through Google Play (if your Xiaomi TV 4A is on Android TV).
To connect IPTV via the provider:
- Get the data for connection from the provider (server address, login, password).
- Go to Settings β Network β IPTV.
- Enter the data provided and save.
- Start searching for channels in the IPTV section.
The advantage of IPTV is a stable signal without depending on the antenna, as well as access to additional channels (sports, children, movies), but this requires Internet speeds of 20 Mbps.
