Modern Xiaomi smartphones offer flexible interface customization capabilities, and text size is one of the key user-friendliness settings. Whether you need to zoom in because of vision problems or want to shrink text to accommodate more information on the screen, MIUI provides several ways to do this. However, not all users know where these settings are hidden and how to properly apply them without distorting the system elements.
In this article, we will look at all the available methods for resizing text, from standard settings in the settings menu to hidden features for power users, and focus on the nuances that arise on different versions of MIUI (from MIUI 12 to MIUI 14), as well as on models with Android 11/12/13. You will learn how to avoid common mistakes, for example, when only the font changes in applications, but not in the system menus, or when the text becomes too large and cropped.
Standard way to change text size through settings
The easiest and safest method is to use the built-in MIUI tools, which are suitable for all Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO models released after 2018, with the main benefit of the changes being applied to all system applications and most third-party programs that support text scaling.
To change the font size:
- Open the Settings app** (cog icon).
- Go to the Screen section (on some models – Display).
- Select text size or font size.
- With the slider, adjust the size from Small (80%) to Very Large (130%).
- Click Ready or Apply to save the changes.
It is important to note that on some devices (such as POCO F3 or Redmi Note 11) after changing the text size, you may need to reboot your smartphone. Also note that if the slider is locked to the value of Standard, this means that your device is on mode for the visually impaired – you need to turn it off in the section Special features.
Additional parameters: display scale and pixel density
If you don't like standard text size change (e.g., the font becomes too blurry or out of proportion to interface elements), you can use a display scale adjustment, which changes not only the text, but also the size of icons, buttons and other graphic elements.
How to scale:

In the models with AMOLED-screens (for example, Xiaomi 13 Pro or Redmi) K50 Ultra) too large a scale can cause color reproduction to be distorted in some applications. If the image becomes dull after the changes, return the standard settings or manually calibrate the screen through Settings. → Screen. → Colours and contrast.

If the text in some apps (e.g. Telegram or Chrome) hasn’t changed after zooming in, clear the cache of those apps in Settings → Applications → Application Management.
Mode for visually impaired: maximum increase in text
For users with severe vision problems, MIUI features a special zoom mode that allows text to grow to 200 percent of the standard size, which runs on top of normal font settings and includes additional features such as contrasting themes and voice support.
You can activate the mode as follows:
- Open Settings → Special Opportunities → Increase.
- Turn on the switch Large text.
- Set the magnification level with a slider (values from 100% to 200%) are available.
- If necessary, activate the magnification gesture – triple touching the screen will temporarily increase the selected area.
⚠️ Note: In this mode, some applications (such as games or banking programs) may not display correctly. Before activating, check compatibility with frequently used services.
On devices with MIUI 14, dynamic zoom is available in zoom mode, the system automatically adjusts text size depending on the lighting. To enable it, go to Settings → Special Features → zoom → Dynamic scale.
Change the size of the text through the developer mode
For power users who need precise font size settings, the method is available through developer mode, which allows you to change the pixel density (DPI), which affects the scale of all interface elements, including text.
Step-by-step:
- Activate Developer Mode: Go to Settings → About Phone. Find the MIUI Version and click on it 7 times in a row. Enter the Mi Account password if needed.
