What is CIT Mode and Why is it Needed?
CIT stands for Customer Integration Test, or more broadly, a factory build quality test, and is designed to quickly test the health of all hardware components immediately after assembly on a conveyor or when a device is accepted at a service center.
Unlike the standard About Phone menu, where you only see the dry digits of Android and MIUI, CIT allows you to control each sensor in real time. You can turn on the flash, make the motor vibrate, display clean colors to check the matrix or record sound from each microphone, which is critical for detecting hardware defects that can be software-masked as system errors.
For the average user, access to this menu allows for self-diagnosis before buying a used device or when there are sporadic (periodic) failures. Instead of wondering why Wi-Fi is turned off, you can run a radio module test and see the signal level and packets being transmitted in real time.

How to enter the CIT Engineering Menu
There are several proven ways to activate the diagnostic mode on Xiaomi devices, the simplest and most reliable method does not require root rights or a connection to a computer, just a standard βcallerβ.
Open the Phone app (set number) and enter the combination ##6484##. If the code is entered correctly, the system will automatically redirect you to the test menu. On some models or in certain regions, the combination may differ, such as #4636##, but it often leads to the phone information menu rather than the full CIT.
If the code doesn't work, your firmware may be blocking direct access, so you can use an alternative route through the settings:
- π± Go to Settings. β The phone.
- π Find the Kernel version (Kernel version).
- π Press it. 5-10 quick-touch.
- π In the menu that appears, select Manual Test or CIT.

Checking the display and touch screen (Touch Panel)
One of the most common reasons for using the service is screen problems. In CIT mode, you can do a detailed diagnosis that is not available in normal mode. The display test usually begins with a cyclical switching of colors: red, green, blue, white and black.
Watch the image closely. You can see the black background with the broken pixels (light spots) and the white background with the spots (clouds) or the yellowness around the edges. Touch Panel, run the test.
