Xiaomi smartphone owners often face a situation where the usual LED indicator stops lighting up when new messages or missed calls arrive. This can be caused by random changes in the settings in the updated version of the MIUI shell or the new HyperOS, as well as software failures. The lack of a visual signal forces you to constantly check the lock screen, which is inconvenient and consumes battery power.
In this article, we will discuss in detail where to look for indicator settings, how to turn on the Always On Display function for modern models without an LED and what to do if standard methods do not help restore the alert system.
Why Xiaomi may not have an indication
The first thing to understand is the physical features of your device: Many modern Xiaomi smartphones, especially mid-range and budget models, and recent flagships, do not have a physical LED (LED) under the screen. Instead of a flashing dot, manufacturers have implemented software solutions such as flashing the screen when you receive a notification or constantly highlighting the time and date.
If the indicator worked before and then stopped, the cause is often a system update. Xiaomi engineers can change the logic of the energy saving, forcibly disabling unnecessary functions to increase autonomy, and third-party themes or launchers that conflict with system services can also cause problems.
It’s important to distinguish between the lack of customization in the menu and the physical absence of the component. If you searched for the LED indicator item in the latest Redmi Note or Poco, but did not find it, chances are that it simply isn’t there out of the box, and you should rely on the on-screen display.
Setting up the LED indicator in the classic menu
For devices that still have LEDs, the path to activating it can be hidden in the depth of settings.
