Taking a screenshot on Xiaomi Redmi seems like an easy task — until you encounter unexpected nuances. Some models support gestures, others require physical buttons, and in some versions of MIUI the function is hidden in the depths of settings. If you tried to pinch Power + Volume Down, but nothing happened, or want to learn how to take screenshots of scrolling pages without third-party apps — this article is for you.
We'll look at all the current ways to capture screenshots on the Redmi Note 12/11/10 Pro, Redmi K50/K60, POCO X5 and other devices running MIUI 12-14. We'll focus on little-known features, like how to take a screenshot with one hand or save it straight to the cloud, and we'll also figure out why the feature doesn't work — and how to fix it without resetting.
1. Standard method: power and volume buttons
It is a versatile method that works on all Xiaomi Redmi models, including budget (Redmi A2, Redmi 9A) and flagship (Redmi K60 Ultra).
- Open the screen you want to capture.
- At the same time, press the Power (on/lock) button and the Volume Down button.
- Hold for 1-2 seconds until you hear the shutter sound or see an animation of the screenshot.
⚠️ Note: On some devices (e.g. Redmi Note 8 Pro), the combination can only work when you press the buttons simultaneously. If you press the buttons in turn, the screenshot will not be taken. Also check if the Do Not Disturb mode is activated - it can block the shutter sound.

Where to look for a screenshot? By default, files are saved to the DCIM → Screenshots or Pictures → Screenshots folder. In MIUI 14, a thumbnail appears in the lower right corner after you create the picture - click on it to edit or share immediately.
2.Gestural screenshot: how to take a picture with one hand
If the physical buttons on your Xiaomi Redmi are worn out or you prefer to control your smartphone with one hand, turn on the gesture method. It works on all devices with MIUI 10 and newer, but is disabled by default.
To activate:
- Go to Settings → Additional settings → Buttons and gestures → Screenshot gestures.
- Choose one of the options: 👆 Swipe down with three fingers – a universal gesture that works in most applications. 👈 Touch and hold three fingers – convenient for scrolling pages.
Practice on the main screen – the gesture should work the first time.
⚠️ Note: Gestures may conflict with other features, such as Split Screen or Google Assistant. If a screenshot is not taken, check if multiple gesture commands are enabled at the same time in the settings.

3. Screenshot of the page being scrolled (long screen)
If you want to save a full web page, a Telegram message, or a long social media post, use Scrolling Screenshot, which is built into MIUI, but many users don't know about it.
How to do this:
- Take a regular screenshot in any way (buttons or gestures).
- Immediately after the thumbnail appears at the bottom of the screen, click on it.
- In the editor that opens, tap the Scrolling icon (two arrows down).
- Wait until the system automatically scrolls through the page and connects the parts into a single file.
⚠️ Attention: Voice screenshots may not work in banking, gaming or restricted apps (such as WhatsApp in incognito mode) and check if the assistant is enabled in the special features settings.

5. Screenshot via notification panel (for MIUI 14)
The latest versions of MIUI 14 have the ability to take screenshots directly from the notification bar, which is convenient if buttons or gestures fail.
Instructions:
- Swipe your finger down from the top of the screen to open the notification bar.
- Find the Screenshot tile (if it is not there, click on the pencil icon to edit the tiles).
- Slip on the tile – the smartphone will immediately take a picture of the current screen.

7. Hidden Chips: Editing and Cloud Save
Not many people know that MIUI can not only take screenshots, but also automatically process them.
- ✏️ Quick editing: After creating a screenshot, tap on the thumbnail at the bottom of the screen – an editor with cropping, blurring and adding text will open.
- ☁️ Autosave in Mi Cloud: Enable sync in Settings → Xiaomi account → Mi Cloud → Gallery and all screenshots will be duplicated in the cloud.
- 📤 Instant sending: In the screenshot editor, click Share - the system will offer to send the picture to Telegram, WhatsApp or mail without saving it in the gallery.
- 🔍 Search by text: B MIUI 14 you can search for text in screenshots via Google Lens (Camera access must be enabled for Screenshots application).
⚠️ Note: If you deactivate your Xiaomi account, the cloud-based screenshot saving will stop working, and check if traffic saving is enabled, which can block file uploads to the Mi Cloud.
