Screenshots on Xiaomi Redmi smartphones are taken in a matter of seconds, but not everyone knows about all the available methods. If you are used to using only a combination of buttons Loud down + Power, then you miss out on more convenient options - from gestures to voice commands. In this article, we will analyze all the current ways to take screenshots on Redmi Note 12/13, Redmi 10/11, POCO X5 and other models with the shell of MIUI 14/15, including little-known chips for advanced users.
Xiaomi has the flexibility to set up its settings, such as screenshots of a scrolling page (long screen) or direct edits without third-party apps, and weโll also show you how to fix typical problems: when screenshots donโt save, buttons donโt work, or screens with protection (such as banking apps) block shooting.
If you use Redmi with custom firmware (like LineageOS or Pixel Experience), some of the methods may not work โ weโll mention that separately, too. And for owners of older models (Redmi 4X, 5A), weโll give you alternative solutions, because the MIUI interface is different.
1. Classic method: Volume buttons + power
The most versatile method, which works on all Xiaomi Redmi models (from Redmi 3S to Redmi Note 13 Pro+), works even if gestures or voice assistant are disabled.
- Open the screen that you want to fix (for example, correspondence in Telegram or a page in Chrome).
- Press Volume down and Power for 1-2 seconds at the same time.
- Wait for the characteristic shutter sound (if the sound is on) and the screenshot animation in the top corner of the screen.
โ ๏ธ Note: Some models (e.g. Redmi) K50 Gaming) Power button can be reassigned to the voice assistant:
- ๐ง Go to Settings. โ Special facilities โ Power button and disable the function Start Assistant.
- ๐ฑ Or use an alternative method (see the section on gestures).
๐ก
If the buttons are not pressed well, try to pinch them not at the same time, but with minimal delay (first Volume down, then Power).
Where to look for a screenshot? By default, files are saved to the DCIM โ Screenshots or Pictures โ Screenshots folder. On MIUI 14+, a thumbnail appears in the lower right corner after you create the picture - click on it to edit or share immediately.
2. Three finger gesture (the fastest way)
The Three-Finger Screenshot feature is available on all Redmis with MIUI 12 and later, allowing you to take a screenshot in one motion without pressing buttons โ ideal for games or applications where power/volume buttons are busy (for example, in PUBG Mobile or Genshin Impact).
How to turn on:
- Open Settings โ Additional functions โ Gestures.
- Find the screenshot with three fingers and activate the switch.
- (Optional) In the gesture settings, you can select the swipe direction: down or up.
How to use:
- ๐ Swipe three fingers across the screen from top to bottom (or bottom to top if you change direction).
- ๐ฎ In games, swipe over the empty area of the screen so as not to click on the game elements.
Is the gesture enabled in the settings?| Finger touches the screen at the same time?| No screenshots (bank applications) are blocked on the screen?| Is a swipe with a sufficient amplitude (at least 3 cm) carried out?
-->
โ ๏ธ Attention: The gesture may conflict with other features, such as Split Screen (if you have swipe enabled three fingers up for multitasking:
๐ง Go to Settings. โ System system โ Gestures โ Multitasking and reconfigure the split screen gesture to another combination (e.g., swipe with four fingers).
3. Voice command (for MIUI with Google Assistant)
If you have Google Assistant or XiaoAI enabled, you can take a voice screenshot โ handy when hands are busy or buttons are not working โ and it works on all Redmis with MIUI 11 and newer.
Instructions for Google Assistant:
- Activate the assistant with your voice (OK, Google) or hold the Home button.
- Say, Take a screenshot or a screenshot.
- Confirm the action (if required).
For XiaoAI (Chinese version of the assistant):
- ๐ค Say: (XiaoAI, screenshot) โ if you have global firmware, this method may not work.
- ๐ Or press and hold the Home button, then select Screenshot from the menu.
โ ๏ธ Note: Voice commands may not work in the following cases:
- ๐ The microphone for the assistant in the privacy settings is disabled.
- ๐ต No Internet connection (required to process commands).
- ๐ Do not disturb or play mode enabled.

4. Notification panel (for MIUI 14 and later)
The latest versions of MIUI have the ability to take a screenshot directly from the Quick Settings panel, which is convenient if the buttons or gestures are turned off and the voice assistant is not configured.
Step-by-step:
- Swipe down from the top edge of the screen to open the notification bar.
- Find the screenshot icon (usually a scissors or a screen thumbnail) if it's not:
Slap the icon - the picture will be taken instantly.
๐ Advantages of the method:
- ๐ฏ It works even if the power or volume button is broken.
- ๐ You can take a screenshot of the page being scrolled (long screen) - for this, after clicking on the icon, select Scroll.

5. Screenshot by computer (ADB)
If the touch screen or buttons on Redmi don't work, you can take a screenshot through your computer using the ADB (Android Debug Bridge) tool.
What you need:
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Computer with Windows/macOS/Linux.
- ๐ USB-cable (preferably original).
- ๐ฆ Installed drivers Xiaomi and ADB.
Instructions:
- Enable USB Debugging on your phone: Settings โ About Phone โ MIUI Version (click 7 times to become a developer) Settings โ Additional โ For Developers โ Debugging over USB
- Connect Redmi to your computer and confirm your trust in the device.
- Open the command line (or Terminal) and type in: Adb devices (your device should appear).
- Take a screenshot by command: adb exec-out screencap -p > screenshot.png The file will be saved in the folder where the command was launched.
โ ๏ธ Note: The method does not work if:
- ๐ Screen lock is enabled on the phone (you need to unlock the device before connecting).
- ๐ก๏ธ Factory mode or Safe mode is included.
- ๐ง Xiaomi drivers are not installed (download Mi) PC Suite from the official website).
๐ก
ADB-Screenshots are saved in format PNG No compression โ this is useful if you want a maximum detailed shot (for example, for analyzing bugs in applications).
6. Hidden functions and problem solutions
Even experienced Xiaomi Redmi users are unaware of some of the screenshot-related features, and there are times when screenshots can't be taken in the standard way, and we'll go through both.
