Have you ever tried to save important information from a Xiaomi screen but couldnโt remember the button combination? Or maybe you wanted to take a screenshot with one hand while holding your phone in the subway? In this article, weโll look at all the possible ways to create screenshots on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices โ from classic hotkeys to little-known MIUI features that are not even covered in official instructions.
Xiaomi smartphones offer at least 5 different screenshot techniques, and the choice depends on whether you want to take a quick, one-handed, scrolling or even voice screenshot. We tested each method on current models (including Xiaomi 14 Ultra, Redmi Note 13 Pro+ and POCO F6) and identified their pros and cons.
1. Classic method: power buttons + volume
Itโs a universal method that works on all Xiaomi smartphones, regardless of the MIUI version or model.
- Open the screen you want to save.
- At the same time, press the Power (on) button and the Volume Down button.
- Hold them for 1-2 seconds until you hear the shutter sound or see an animation of the screenshot.
โ ๏ธ Note: Some models (e.g. Xiaomi) 12T or Redmi K50) The sensitivity of the buttons may vary. If the screenshot doesn't work the first time, try pressing a little longer or faster. Also make sure that the Do Not Disturb mode is not activated - it can block the shutter sound.
Advantages of the method:
- ๐น It works on all versions. MIUI (including MIUI 14 and HyperOS).
- ๐น No additional settings are required.
- ๐น Suitable for devices with mechanical buttons (unlike touch buttons).
๐ก
If you have a magnetic lock case (like the original case for the Xiaomi 13 Pro), remove it before you take a screenshot โ the magnet may accidentally lock the screen.
2.The three-finger gesture is the fastest way
The Three-Finger Screenshot feature was introduced in MIUI 9 and has since become one of the most popular among users, allowing you to take a screenshot in one motion without pressing a button. Here's how to set it up and use it:
- Go to Settings โ Additional functions โ Gestures.
- Activate the switch opposite the screenshot with three fingers.
- Check the work: swipe down the screen with three fingers at the same time (no pause!).
This method is particularly convenient for:
- ๐ฑ Larger smartphones (for example, Xiaomi 14 Pro or XP) POCO F5 Pro, where it is difficult to reach the buttons with one hand.
- ๐ฎ Games โ you can quickly save the moment of victory without being distracted from the gamepad.
- ๐ Scrolling pages (in combination with the Long Screenshot feature).
โ ๏ธ Note: If the gesture does not work, check it out:
- Is the left-handed mode activated in the gesture settings (it changes the direction of the swipe).
- Are you using a third-party launcher (like Nova Launcher) that may conflict with system gestures?
3. Screenshot via notification panel
Few people know, but MIUI has a built-in screenshot button right in the Quick Settings panel, which is useful if you don't have buttons or gestures working.
- Swipe your finger down to open the notification panel.
- Swipe down again to turn the full panel around.
- Find the Screenshot icon (usually it looks like a scissor or a rectangle with lightning).
- Slip on it โ the screenshot will be taken instantly.
If the icon is missing:
- ๐ง Click on Edit (pencil in the upper right corner of the panel).
- ๐ Find a screenshot in the list and drag it to the active area.
- ๐ Secure the icon so it doesnโt disappear.
Check if the panel is fully deployed | Find the screenshot icon (maybe on page two) | If the icon is not, add it in editing | Make sure there is no screenshot blocking (in banking apps)
-->
The advantage of this method is that it's 100 percent reliable, because it doesn't depend on the performance of the buttons or the sensor, but it takes a little longer than gestures or hotkeys.
4. Voice command "OK Google, take a screenshot"
If you have Google Assistant on, you can take voice screenshots, which is especially convenient when your hands are busy. Here's how it works:
- Activate Google Assistant with the command โOK Googleโ or hold the Home button.
- Say, Take a screenshot or a screenshot.
- Confirm the action (if required).
โ ๏ธ Note: This method does not work on all Xiaomi models, as it depends on the version of the Google App and regional settings:
- ๐ Update Google App to Play Market.
- ๐ Check that the language of the voice assistant is set in Russian (Russia).
- ๐ Enable permission for Google Assistant in Settings โ Annexes โ Google โ Permits.
Voice screenshots are convenient for:
- ๐ Drivers โ you can save the route of the navigator without being distracted from the road.
- ๐จโ๐ณ When your hands are dirty or wet (such as while cooking with a prescription).
- ๐ฆฝ People with disabilities.
Why canโt the voice command work on some Xiaomis?
5. Long (scrollable) screenshot
If you need to save an entire web page, chat or list (such as a translation history in Google Translate or a VK feed), use the Long Screenshot feature, which is available after you have created a regular screenshot:
- Take a screenshot in any convenient way (buttons, gesture, etc.).
- Immediately after the miniature appears in the lower right corner, tap it.
- In the editor that opens, click Scrolling (or Long Screenshot).
- Wait until the system automatically scrolls down the page and connects the frames.
- Press Ready to save the result.
Limitations of function:
- โ Does not work in some apps (for example, Instagram, TikTok or banking services).
- โ It can be โlostโ if a page loads content dynamically (like Facebook or Facebook). Twitter/X).
- โ Maximum screenshot length: about 10 screens (depending on model).
| Xiaomi model | Max. Screenshot length. | Supported applications |
|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi 14 / 14 Pro | ~15 screens | Browser, Telegram, VKontakte, WhatsApp |
| Redmi Note 13 Pro+ | ~12 screens | Browser, Telegram, Google Maps |
| POCO F5 | ~10 screens | Browser, WhatsApp, Discord |
| Xiaomi 12T | ~8 screens | Browser, Telegram (with restrictions) |
๐ก
A long screenshot is saved in.png format and can weigh up to 10-15 MB. If you need to send it by mail or messenger, pre-compress the file through an application like Photo Compress.
6 Screenshot in games and secure applications
Many apps (banks, messengers with secret chats, some games) block screenshots for security reasons. If you try to take a screenshot, you see a message: "No screenshots, try these workarounds:"
Method 1. Use Google Assistant (on some models)
Some versions of MIUI allow you to bypass the lock via voice assistant:
- Activate Google Assistant with the OK Google command.
- Say, take a screenshot.
- If a warning appears, confirm the action.
Method 2. Connect the phone to the PC
If you have a computer, you can take a screenshot through ADB (Android Debug Bridge):
- Turn on Developer Mode (7 times tap the MIUI version in your phone settings).
- Activate USB Debugging in Settings โ For Developers.
- Connect your phone to your PC and execute the command: adb shell screencap -p /sdcard/screen.png
โ ๏ธ Attention: Use ADB The wrong commands can cause a phone to crash, and it doesn't work if the application blocks all ways of capturing the screen (e.g., SberBank Online or Tinkoff).
Method 3: Second telephone or camera
The most reliable, but inconvenient, way to take a picture of the screen is with another device, to minimize glare.
- ๐ต Turn off the adaptive brightness and set it to 80-90%.
- ๐ฆ Use an additional light source (but donโt point it directly at the screen).
- ๐ Keep the second phone parallel to the screen to avoid distortion.
7 Where screenshots are stored and how to edit them
By default, all screenshots on Xiaomi are saved in the folder: /storage/emulated/0/Pictures/Screenshots/
or

- Open it in the Gallery.
- Slip on the icon Edit (pencil).

โ ๏ธ Note: If you often share screenshots with personal information (card numbers, passwords, addresses), use apps to automatically blur, such as:
- Blur Photo Editor โ blurs selected areas.
- Snapseed is a professional editing with masks.
- MIUI Built-in Tools are built-in Xiaomi tools (available after upgrading to MIUI 13+).
