Why you need screenshots and why Xiaomi stands out
Screenshots have become an integral part of digital life, from saving important correspondence to fixing errors in applications. Xiaomi with the shell of MIUI offers users several ways to create screenshots, from classic to unique features like scrolling screenshots or voice control. Unlike naked Android, it has additional editing and fast sharing options.
Redmi, Poco and Black Shark phones are designed to support screenshots even on locked screens (in some models) and integrate with Mi Cloud for automatic backup. In this article, we will discuss all the current methods for devices on MIUI 12-14 and Android 11-14, including hidden features and solving typical problems.

Method 1: Classical button combination
The most reliable method, which works on all Xiaomi models without exception, is the simultaneous pressing of physical buttons.
- Open the screen that you need to lock.
- Press the Power button (right) + Volume Down button (left) for 1-2 seconds.
- Wait for the characteristic shutter sound and visual animation.
The screenshot will be saved in the gallery in the Screenshots folder. The new models (Xiaomi 13/14, Redmi Note 12) have a tactile return on the successful creation of the image.

Method 2: Gestures and triple touch
The MIUI brand feature is the ability to take screenshots without buttons.
- Activate the function in Settings → Special features → Triple touch gesture.
- Select the action Screenshot.
- Tap the screen three times with three fingers at the same time (not swipe!).
This method is convenient for devices with large screens (Xiaomi Pad 6, Redmi K60 Ultra), where it is difficult to reach the buttons with one hand, and also works in most games, if not blocked by the developer.
How to calibrate a gesture
An important nuance: on some firmware (MIUI 13.5+), the gesture conflicts with Part Screen. If the screenshots do not work, check the priority of gestures in the settings.
Method 3: Quick settings panel
Less well-known, but no less effective way:
- Pull the notification bar down (with one or two fingers, depending on the model).
- Find the Screenshot icon (scissors or a rectangle with lightning).
- Touch the icon - the picture will be taken in 1-2 seconds.
If the badge is not:
- 🔧 Click on Edit (pencil in the upper right corner of the panel).
- 📱 Find a screenshot in the list and drag it to the active area.
- 🔄 Restart your phone if the changes don’t apply.

Poco F5 Pro and Xiaomi 13 Ultra support an extended panel with the option Long Screenshot (scroll the page). To do this, after creating a regular screen, tap on the thumbnail in the notification and select Scroll.
Method 4: Voice commands (Google Assistant and XiaoAI)
For those who prefer voice control:
Through Google Assistant:
- Activate the assistant with the phrase “OK, Google” or holding the Home button.
- Say, Take a screenshot or take a picture of the screen.
Through XiaoAI (China only/Global Sino-based firmware):
- Twice press the power button to call the assistant.
- Say in Chinese: (jiétú) or in English: Take a screenshot.
⚠️ Attention: Voice screenshots do not work in banking applications, instant messengers with screenshot protection (SberBank Online, WhatsApp in privacy mode) and some games.
Useful Lifehack: If the voice screenshot doesn’t work, check the permissions for Google/XiaoAI in Settings → Apps → Permissions → Microphone.
Method 5: Screenshots in Games via Game Turbo
For gamers on Black Shark or Game Turbo devices:
- Launch the game, wait for the Game Turbo (gamepad icon) floating menu to appear.
- Slip on the menu and select the Screenshot icon (or Screen Record for video).
- The images will be saved in the GameScreenshots folder.
On Black Shark 5 Pro and later, the screenshot with a timer is available, useful for capturing moments in dynamic shooters. Activated in the Game Turbo settings:

To remove Game Turbo watermarks from screenshots, go to Game Turbo Settings → Watermark → Disable.
Editing and sharing screenshots
After creating the screenshot, MIUI offers instant editing:
- 🎨 Trimming: Hold your finger on thumbnail in the notification and drag the frame.
- 🖊️ Drawing: tap on the thumbnail → Choose a brush, marker or text.
- 🔍 Text recognition: Click Text to copy text from the screen (required) MIUI 14+).
- 📤 Fast sending: swipe up the thumbnail to select the messenger.
On Xiaomi 13/14 and Redmi Note 12 Pro+ available AI analysis of screenshots: the system automatically offers to recognize phone numbers, addresses or links in the picture.

Typical problems and their solutions
Problem 1: Screenshots are not saved.
Decision:
- 📁 Check the space in the memory (needs at least 100 MB).
- 🔄 Reboot the phone.
- 🛠️ Clear the gallery cache: Settings → Annexes → gallery → Warehouse → Clear the cache.
Problem 2: Black screen on screenshot (in games/banking applications).
Solution: This is screenshot protection.
- 📱 Use the second phone to take pictures of the screen.
- 🎮 In games, turn on the recording mode in Game Turbo.
Problem 3: The triple touch gesture doesn't work.
Decision:
- 🔧 Check the settings: Settings → Special facilities → Triple touch gesture.
- 🧹 Remove the protective film – it can block the touch.
- 📲 Update the firmware (bug fixed in the MIUI 14.0.5+).
