But there are 3 key limitations:
- It does not work for Widevine L1-enabled video (e.g. Netflix in HD).
- On some models (for example, Poco F5), the screenshot is black if the video is played in full screen mode.
- In games or applications with protection (for example, Wild Rift), the screenshot is blocked.

2. Screenshot via notification panel (hidden MIUI function)
Few people know, but MIUI has a built-in screenshot tool that sometimes works where the button combination fails. Here's how to activate it:
- Open the video you want to screen.
- Swipe down from the top edge of the screen to open the notification bar.
- Find a screenshot icon (usually a scissor or a rectangle with lightning). If it's not there, tap it. ⚙️ Edit and add the widget manually.
- Click on the icon – the screenshot will be saved in the DCIM/Screenshots folder.
This method often works for YouTube videos (unless the video is secure), VK Videos, and even some streams, but for Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, it is useless, only bypassing the screen recording (more on this below).

If the standard methods don't work, the one-size-fits-all option is to record the screen and then cut the frame you want. MIUI has a built-in tool.
- Open Settings → Special Options → Screen recording.

If you have to take a screenshot of a protected video (like a Netflix movie or a TV series in OKKO), the standard methods won't work. There are two radical ways:
- Use of the HDMI-Connect your phone to a TV or monitor through USB-C to HDMI Adapter: Play the video on the outside screen. Take a picture of the TV screen with another device (e.g., a DSLR).
Cons: poor quality and the need for additional equipment.
Magisk modules for bypassing HDCP
- Install Magisk and Disable Flag Secure module.
- Reboot the phone.
- Try to take a screenshot in the standard way.
Important: Since MIUI 14, Xiaomi has tightened protection against DRM bypassing. Even with root access, the chances of taking a screenshot from Netflix or Disney+ are near zero - these services use hardware encryption at the processor level.

6. Alternative methods: when nothing helps
If all of the above methods do not work, there are non-standard solutions:

- 🖥️ Emulation of Android on PC: Install BlueStacks or Genymotion, log in to your account and play the video through the emulator.
- 🔍 Search for footage on the Internet: Often, footage from movies or TV series is already posted in Google Pictures or on sites like Film-Grab.

Frequent Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
Even experienced Xiaomi users sometimes have trouble creating screenshots of videos, and here are some of the most common mistakes:
- 🔕 Black screen in screenshot: Occurs due to the power saving mode on. Turn it off in Settings → Battery → Energy saving regime.
