Why do screenshots on Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G do differently than on other smartphones?

Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G (and its Mi 11 Lite 5G NE modification) runs on the MIUI branded shell, which drastically changes the standard Android gestures. If you switch from Samsung, iPhone or even the old Redmi model, the usual button combinations may not work. For example, the classic Power + Volume Down here is often blocked by the system due to conflict with a call to Google Assistant.

Another feature is that in MIUI 12.5+, screenshots are automatically saved to the Xiaomi cloud if sync is enabled. This is convenient for backups, but can eat up traffic. In this article, we will examine not only the basic ways to take screenshots, but also little-known chips: how to take long screenshots (scroll screens), where to find hidden quality settings, and why sometimes the pictures are black.

Important: the instruction is relevant for Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G on MIUI 13/14 (Android 11/12). If you have a different version of the firmware, some menu items may differ - we will warn you about this separately.

Method 1: The classic button combination (and why it doesn’t always work)

The most universal method is to press two physical buttons: Power + Volume Down.

But there are 3 pitfalls here:

• 🔋 If you press the buttons too long (more than 2 seconds), a forced reboot or voice assistant call will work.
• 🎵 On some firmware, the combination conflicts with the launch of Google Assistant – it must be disabled in the settings.

1. Open the desired screen (for example, correspondence in WhatsApp or a page in the browser).
2. Press and hold the Power (right) and Volume Down (left) for 1 second at the same time.
3. You will hear the sound of the camera shutter and see the animation of the save in the upper right corner.

⚠️ Attention: Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G With the bootloader unlocked, this combination can accidentally trigger the Fastboot. If the screen goes out and the Mi Bunny logo appears, don't panic - just restart the phone with a long press on Power.

Method 2: Three-finger gesture – the fastest (but you need to turn it on)

The MIUI feature is the ability to take screenshots with one motion across the screen with three fingers, and by default, this feature is disabled, so we activate it first:

1. Go to Settings → Additional functions → Gestures.
2. Find the item "Screenshot with three fingers" and turn on the switchboard.
3. Select action: Swipe down (recommended) or Touch and Hold.

Now to take a screenshot:

1. Open the screen.
2. Swipe your three fingers from top to bottom (as if you were swiping the screen).
3. The picture will be saved in the gallery, and at the top will appear the quick action panel.

⚠️ Warning: If you have one hand mode enabled (Settings) → Screen. → One-hand mode, three-finger gesture may not work.

Method 3: Notification panel for those who like menus

If you are uncomfortable remembering combinations or gestures, use the built-in button in the notification curtain:

1. Open the screen you want to capture.
2. Swipe down from the top edge of the screen to open the notification bar.
3. Find the screenshot icon (usually a scissors or a rectangle with lightning).
4. Slip it on it - the picture will be taken immediately.

If no button:

• 🔧 Go to Settings. → Control panel.
• 🔄 Find the screenshot list and drag it to the active area.

They appear in the same folder as the regular ones (Gallery → Screenshots), but have a "Scroll" tag in the file name. To find them faster, sort the folder by Change Date.

Where to look for screenshots and how to edit them

By default, all screenshots are saved to:

• 📁 folder /storage/emulated/0/Pictures/Screenshots/ (Accessing through the file manager).
