Xiaomi Redmi Go is a budget smartphone on Android Go Edition, which is still used by many users due to its simplicity and reliability. However, due to the simplified firmware MIUI Go, some standard features, like taking screenshots, may work differently than on flagship models. If you tried to take a screenshot in the usual way, but it did not work, this article is for you.
We’ve collected all the relevant methods, including button combinations, gestures and hidden system functions, and we’ll also analyze where screenshots on Redmi Go are saved, how to find, edit or delete them, and pay special attention to the nuances associated with low RAM (1 GB) and the specifics of Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition).
1. Standard method: "Power" + "Louding down" buttons
It’s a versatile method that works on 90% of Xiaomi smartphones, including the Redmi Go.
- Open the screen you want to capture (for example, a dialog in the messenger or a page in the browser).
- At the same time, press the on/lock button (right) and the volume down button (left).
- Hold them for 1-2 seconds until you hear the camera shutter sound and see the save animation.
⚠️ Warning: Redmi Go may have a delay of up to 3-5 seconds before saving due to weak iron. Do not release the buttons ahead of time, otherwise the system will recognize this as an attempt to turn off the phone or change the volume.
The screen is unlocked and active
There's no sensitive data on the screen.
The sound is not turned off (to hear confirmation)
Free at least 50 MB of memory-->
If the screenshot is not saved, check:
- 📱 Free space in the device memory (minimum required) ~30MB).
- 🔊 System sound – if it is turned off, you will not hear the confirming signal.
- 🔄 Rebooting your phone (sometimes helps with crashes) MIUI Go).
2. Alternative method: the button "Food" + "Home"
On some Redmi Go firmware (especially if you have a custom launcher installed), the standard combination may not work.
- Press the Power button and the touch button "Home" (round at the bottom of the screen).
- Hold on for 1–1.5 seconds until a save notification appears.
⚠️ Note: This method only works on firmware before MIUI 10.2.3.0.On newer versions, it is disabled due to a conflict with Quick Ball.
If you don’t have a touch button, but a physical home button (rarely, but it’s found on some modifications), this method won’t work – use the first option with volume buttons.
3. Screenshot with "Three fingers down" gesture
The screenshot gestures feature is disabled by default on Redmi Go, but it can be activated in settings, which is convenient if the mechanical buttons are worn or not working correctly.
How to turn on:
- Go to Settings → Additional → Special features → Gesture for a screenshot.
- Activate the switch opposite the "Three fingers down."
- (Optional) Set the delay (recommended 0.5 seconds for Redmi Go).
How to take a screenshot:
- 👆 Place three fingers on the screen (for example, index, middle and ring fingers).
- 📲 Move them from top to bottom in one quick move.
- 🎯 Wait for the beep and notifications.
💡 Tip: If the gesture doesn't work, try it:
- 🧼 Wipe the screen from the fat (the sensor may not recognize the touch).
- 🔄 Reboot the phone.
- ⚙️ Reset gesture settings in Settings → System system → Resetting settings → Resetting gestures.
4.Fast access via Quick Ball
Quick Ball is a floating button from Xiaomi that makes it easier to access frequently used features, including screenshots. It works unstable on Redmi Go due to limited resources, but it’s worth a try.
How to set up:
- Open the Settings. → Additionally. → Quick Ball.
- Turn on the slider "Show Quick Ball."
- In the Quick Actions section, add Screenshot (drag it to the active area).
How to use:
- 🎯 Click on the Quick Ball floating button (default: white dot grey circle).
- 📸 In the menu that appears, select the icon “Screenshot».
- 📱 Wait for preservation (may take up to 5 seconds on a weak gland).

5 Where are the screenshots saved and how to find them
By default, all screenshots on Redmi Go are saved in the folder:
/storage/emulated/0/Pictures/Screenshots/How to get there:
- Open the Files app (Blue folder icon).
- Go to the Images section → Screenshots.
- Or use the path: Internal memory → Pictures → Screenshots.
If the folder is empty, check:

If screenshots aren’t displayed in the gallery, but the Screenshots folder isn’t empty, clear the Gallery app’s cache in Settings → Apps → Gallery → Memory → Clear the cache.
6.Editing and sending screenshots
Redmi Go doesn’t have a screenshot editor built in, but you can use:
- 🖌️ Gallery app: Open the screenshot → Click Edit (pencil icon) The basic functions are available: cropping, rotating, adding text.
- 📱 Google Photos: Install from Play Market (if not preinstalled). Open screenshot → Change. → Tools. There's filters, color correction, aspect ratio trimming.
- 🛠️ Third-party editors: Photo Editor (lightweight, suitable for weak phones). PicsArt (more features, but can slow down).
⚠️ Note: When editing screenshots on Redmi Go, do not save the file in format PNG Transparency – This can lead to an “Insufficient Memory” error due to Android Go limitations.

⚠️ Note: When installing third-party screenshot apps on Redmi Go:
- Turn off battery optimization for them in Settings → Battery → Battery Optimization.
- Do not install more than one such application – it will overload the system.
