Xiaomi Redmi 8T is one of the most popular budget smartphones of the brand, but even its owners sometimes have difficulty creating screenshots. It would seem that could be easier? But in practice, users are lost between physical buttons, gestures and software methods - especially if you used devices from other manufacturers.
In this article, we will not only list ways to take a screenshot of Redmi 8T, but also reveal the nuances of each method, from the classic keyboard shortcut to the little-known features of MIUI. You will learn how to save long pages, edit pictures immediately after you create and even automate the process with Google Assistant.
Important: All instructions are up to date for the Redmi 8T based on MIUI 12/13/14 (including global and Chinese firmware versions). If your smartphone is running on an older version, some features may not be available.
1. Classic method: power and volume buttons
It is a universal method that works on all Xiaomi smartphones, including the Redmi 8T. Its main advantage is speed and reliability: you do not need to search for menus or customize gestures.
To take a screenshot:
- Open the screen you want to capture (application, web page, settings, etc.).
- At the same time, press the Power button (right) and the Volume Down button (left).
- Hold them for 1-2 seconds until you hear the sound of the camera shutter and see the animation of the screenshot.
β οΈ Not to be confused with long pressing β if you press buttons longer than 3 seconds, a forced reboot or Google Assistant call will work.
Make sure the screen is not locked.
Close unnecessary applications (so that you do not get into the frame)
Check the battery level (below 5% of screenshots may not be saved)
Turn off Do Not Disturb mode if you need confirmation sound-->
Where to look for a finished screenshot? By default, all the pictures are saved in the folder:
/storage/emulated/0/Pictures/Screenshots/Or through the gallery: open the Gallery app β Screenshots album.
2.Gestural in MIUI: Screenshot with triple touch
Redmi 8T supports MIUI, which is a feature that allows you to take a screenshot with a three-toed gesture, which is convenient when physical buttons are difficult to access (for example, when using a case or with one hand).
How to turn on:
- Go to Settings β Additional settings β button gestures.
- Select the screenshot item with a triple touch.
- Activate the switch and test the gesture on any screen.
How it works:
- π Swipe three fingers down the screen (from top edge to center).
- π± Screenshot will be taken instantly, without delay.
- π Shutter sound can be turned off in gesture settings.
β οΈ Note: The gesture may conflict with other features (e.g. split screen or swipe to return). If the screenshot fails, check the priority of gestures in the same settings.
What to do if the gesture does not work?
3. Screenshot via notification panel
A lesser known, but no less effective, way is to use the Quick Settings Panel, which saves you when the buttons are jammed or the touch screen is partially down.
Instructions:
- Flick the screen down from the top edge to open the notification bar.
- Find the screenshot icon (usually hidden under the button) β― or edit).
- Slip it on it - the picture will be taken immediately.
If the badge is not:
- π§ Click Edit (pencil in the upper right corner of the panel).
- π± Find a screenshot in the list and drag it to the active area.
- πΎ Save the changes.
The advantage of this method is that you can take a screenshot with one hand without intercepting the phone, and the disadvantage is that you need to set up a screenshot beforehand.

- Take a regular screenshot of any of the above methods.
- Immediately after the miniature appears in the lower right corner, tap it.
- In the editor that opens, select the Scroll option (the icon with two arrows down).
