You can take a screenshot on Xiaomi Redmi 5 in at least three ways β and they all take no more than 10 seconds. But many users still don't know about the three-finger gesture or the hidden feature in the notification curtain that works even with a broken screen. In this article, we'll break down all the methods with step-by-step photos, tell you where to look for saved pictures, and what to do if Redmi 5 doesn't take screenshots.
Redmi 5 (including Redmi 5A and Redmi 5 Plus) was released in 2017, but is still in use today, and it used MIUI 9-12 versions (depending on the firmware), and all of the methods described below work on either of these updates. If you have a different version of the shell, check the settings in the Additional β Special Features β Gestures section.
Method 1: Classic button combination (always working)
Itβs a versatile method that works on all Android smartphones, including the Redmi 5, even if your gestures are disabled or your sensor isnβt working.
Instructions:
- Open the screen you want to save (for example, WhatsApp correspondence or a page in your browser).
- Press the volume reduction button (lower left) and the power button (right side).
- Hold them for 1-2 seconds until you hear the camera shutter sound and see the save animation.
β οΈ Note: Not to be confused with long pressing β if you press buttons longer than 3 seconds, the smartphone can reboot to Fastboot mode or turn off. On Redmi 5, the optimal retention time is exactly 1.5 seconds.
