Xiaomi Redmi 3 is the legendary budget 2016, which is still used by many users. But even with this time-tested smartphone can have difficulties with basic functions. One of the most common problems is the inability to take a screenshot in the usual way. Why is this happening? The fact is that the MIUI firmware on Redmi 3 has several hidden nuances that are not written in the official instructions.
In this article, you'll find not only standard screenshot techniques, but also alternative solutions for when the power + volume down button doesn't work. We've tested all of them on Redmi 3 with MIUI 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 -- ensure that at least one of them works on your device. And if you encounter a "Can't take a screenshot" error, there's a solution section at the end of the article.
1. Standard method: button combination
This is the most reliable method, which works on 99% of Xiaomi devices, including Redmi 3.
- Open the screen you want to capture (social network, game, settings).
- Press the power button (right) and the volume button (left) at the same time.
- Hold them for 1-2 seconds until you hear the camera shutter.
- The screen will blink, and in the upper panel will appear a notification "Screenshot saved".
β οΈ Important: on Redmi 3 with custom firmware (like LineageOS), this combination may not work. Also check if the hardware buttons are disabled in the special features settings.

The function is activated as follows:

- Move them from top to bottom in one quick move.
- The screen will blink and the picture will be saved in the gallery.
