Xiaomi Redmi Note 10: Why it’s not as easy as it seems
Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 smartphones (including the Pro, 5G and S modifications) run on MIUI’s proprietary shell, which offers as many as 5 different ways to take screenshots. But there’s a catch: some methods depend on the firmware version, and some functions can be disabled by default. For example, the “triple touch” gesture is often ignored by users, although it is the most convenient for one-way capture of long pages.
Another feature of the Redmi Note 10 is the non-standard layout of the power and volume buttons. On some models (especially the Redmi Note 10 5G), the key combination can be delayed due to energy optimization. And in games or applications with a lock interface (for example, banking programs), standard methods do not work at all. In this article, we will analyze all the nuances from basic combinations to hidden chips of MIUI 14.
Method 1: Classic button combination (always working)
The most reliable method, which is guaranteed to work even on a locked screen (if the appropriate setting is enabled), the Redmi Note 10 has two physical buttons:
- 🔘 Press the power button at the same time (right) + Volume down button (left).
- 🕒 Hold them down. 1-1.5 seconds before the characteristic sound of the shutter or vibration.
- 📁 Screenshot will be saved in the folder DCIM → Screenshots or Pictures → Screenshots (depending on version) MIUI).
⚠️ Note: Redmi Note 10 Pro with AMOLED-When holding buttons longer than 2 seconds, a Google Assistant call may work. To avoid this, disable the function in Settings → Annexes → Assistant and voice input → Google → Turn off the option “Start from the power button».
This method is universal, but has disadvantages:
- ❌ It’s not easy to use with one hand (especially on the big screens of the Note 10 Pro Max).
- ❌ In games, buttons can conflict with the gamepad (for example, in the game). PUBG Mobile or Call of Duty).
- ❌ On worn buttons, more effort is required to trigger.
💡
If a screenshot is not saved, check the permissions for the Gallery app in Settings → Apps → Application Management → Gallery → Permissions. Lack of access to storage is a common cause of missing images.
Method 2: Triple touch gesture (fastest)
Three-touch allows you to take a screenshot by simply touching the screen with three fingers at once, and this method is ideal for:
- 🎮 Games (not interfere with management).
- 📱 One hand (no need to reach for the buttons).
- 🔒 Screens with interface lock (banks, messengers).
How to turn on:
- Go to Settings → Special Features → Triple Touch Gesture.
- Activate the slider and select the action “Screenshot”.
- Adjust sensitivity (recommend “medium” to avoid false positives).
Three-touch enabled in settings |Fingers touch screen simultaneously (not sequentially) |Gest is performed in the display area of the content (not in the navigation bar) |The screen is not locked or covered with a low-sensitivity protective film-->
⚠️ Note: On the Redmi Note 10 with a protective glass thicker than 0.3 mm, the gesture may not work:
- 🔧 Increase the sensitivity of the screen in Settings → Display. → Touch and holders → Sensitivity of touch.
- 🧴 Apply a drop of hand gel on your fingers (improves the triggering).
- 🔄 Reboot your phone (sometimes helps when sensor driver crashes).
Method 3: Quick Settings Panel (for advanced users)
If you need to take a screenshot with a delay (for example, to have time to deploy the menu) or scrollable (long web page), use the notification bar:
- Swipe down from the top edge of the screen to open the notification bar.
- Find the Screenshot icon (if not, click Edit and add).
- Slip on the icon – there will be a menu with options: 📸 A normal shot is a standard capture. ⏱️ Delayed (3 or 10 seconds) to prepare the screen. 📜 Scrolling – Capturing long pages (not working in all applications).
🔹 Scrolling screenshot on Redmi Note 10 works only in the browser MIUI, Chrome (version 100)+) And some messengers (Telegram, Viber), Instagram or TikTok, this feature is blocked.
| Type of screenshot | Where does he work? | Limitations |
|---|---|---|
| Normal. | Any appendix | Does not capture system windows (such as keyboard) |
| With a delay. | Any appendix | Maximum delay: 10 seconds |
| scrolling | Browsers, messengers, PDF files | It does not work in games and some social networks. |

Method 4: Voice assistant (for lazy people)
If you have Google Assistant on or XiaoAI on, you can take a voice command screenshot, which is convenient when your hands are busy or the screen is dirty.
Instructions for Google Assistant:
- Say “OK Google” or hold the Home button (if you have one).
- Say the command: “Take a screenshot” or “Screenshot”.
- Confirm the action (if required).
For XiaoAI (only available on Chinese firmware or global with regional patch):
- Activate the assistant with a long hold on the Power button (if configured).
- Say it in Chinese: «» (jiétú) Or in English: "Take a screenshot».
Step-by-step:
- Turn on Developer Mode on Redmi Note 10: Settings → About Phone → MIUI Version (Tap 7 times)
- Activate USB Debugging in Settings → Additional → For developers.
- Connect your phone to your PC and confirm your trust in the device.
- Open the command line (Windows) or terminal (macOS/Linux) and type in: adb devices (you should display your device).
- Take a screenshot with the command: adb exec-out screencap -p > screenshot.png (the file will be saved to the current folder on PC).
🔹 For scrollable screenshots through ADB Use the Scrcpy utility with the parameter --capture. Example:
scrcpy --capture=filename.png --no-display💡
ADB-Screenshots bypass restrictions MIUI to capture secure windows (e.g. banking applications or DRM-However, this may violate the terms of use of certain services.

Frequent problems and their solutions
Even on reliable devices like the Redmi Note 10, screenshots sometimes fail, and here are the most common bugs and ways to fix them:

- 🔇 No shutter sound: Check if silent mode is on or not intruding. Turn system sounds into Settings → Sound. → Systemic sounds.
- 🎮 Does not work in games: Use a triple-touch gesture or notification bar. turn off game mode in settings (it can block system functions).
- 🔒 Blocked content (banks, Netflix): Remove screenshots from the app settings (if you have one.
⚠️ Note: On the Redmi Note 10 with root rights or custom firmware (like LineageOS), standard screenshot methods may not work. In this case, install a third-party app, such as Screenshot Easy or Screen Master, and give it root access.
