Taking screenshots on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 seems like a simple task β until you run into a situation where standard keyboard shortcuts donβt work, such as if your power button is broken or your screen doesnβt respond to touch. In this article, weβll look at not only classic techniques (via physical buttons and gestures), but also little-known tricks, from voice control to a hidden MIUI menu that allows you to take screenshots even with the sensor turned off.
The Redmi Note 10 features support for the MIUI shell, which offers unique ways to capture screenshots, such as a three-toed swipe (as opposed to standard Android), and the latest firmware versions have the ability to take long screenshots (scrollable pages) without third-party applications. We tested all methods on the Redmi Note 10 Pro, Redmi Note 10S and the base model β the instructions are relevant for all versions of the series.
Important: If you upgraded to MIUI 14 or later, some menu items may have changed. In this article, we will show you alternative paths for different versions of the firmware, you will also learn how to edit screenshots immediately after creation and where to find saved files (hint: they are not always in the gallery!).
1. Classic method: power buttons + volume
The most reliable method, which works even on a locked phone or in Fastboot mode, is suitable for all versions of the Redmi Note 10, including models with custom firmware.
How to do this:
- π± Simultaneously press the power button (right) and the volume button (top left).
- π― Hold 1-2 seconds until you hear the sound of the camera shutter and see the animation screenshot.

The screen is unlocked (if you need to remove the locked display, use the method) β4)
The buttons do not stick and are clean (dust can interfere with the operation)
The sound is on (to hear confirmation)

This method is universal, but has disadvantages:
| Pluses | Cons |
|---|---|
| It works always, even when the system is down. | It requires two hands (uncomfortable if you are doing one) |
| It doesn't depend on the MIUI version. | May accidentally trigger the off menu (if pinched for too long) |
| It works on any screen (games, videos, menus) | Not suitable if one of the buttons is broken. |
2. Three-finger gesture: swipe down the screen
A MIUI feature that saves time, you don't have to look for buttons. The feature is enabled by default on the Redmi Note 10, but you can turn it off in the settings (more on that below).
How to do this:

- π Quickly swipe down the display (as if you are shaking off the water).

If the gesture doesn't work:
- Go to Settings β Additional β Special features β Gestures.
