The Xiaomi Redmi 10 is one of the most popular budget smartphones, but even its owners sometimes face simple tasks, such as how to take a screenshot of the screen if the standard button combinations do not work or you simply do not know about the existence of alternative methods.
In this article, we will explore all possible ways to create screenshots on Redmi 10, including classic keyboard shortcuts, gestures, voice commands and even third-party applications. We will separately focus on typical errors that may cause a screenshot to fail, and give recommendations for setting up screen saves to the cloud or memory card.
Important: the instruction is relevant for all versions of the MIUI 12/13/14 firmware, as well as for modifications of Redmi 10 2022, Redmi 10A and Redmi 10C. If you have a different model, check the compatibility of methods at the end of the article.
1. Classic method: power and volume buttons
The most reliable and versatile method that works on all Xiaomi smartphones, including the Redmi 10. To create a screenshot, press two buttons at the same time:
- ๐ Power button (right, lock screen)
- ๐ Volume reduction button (left side panel)
Hold them for 1-2 seconds until you hear the characteristic shutter sound of the camera and see the animation of saving a screenshot at the top of the screen. MIUI 14 will also show a thumbnail in the lower right corner - click on it to immediately edit or share the screen.
Make sure the screen is not locked.

On Redmi 10 with the firmware below MIUI 12.5, a bug can trigger: a screenshot is created but not saved in the gallery, in which case, check the Pictures/Screenshots folder through the file manager or restart the phone.
โ ๏ธ Note: If you use a magnetic lock case (such as a book), it may block the power button.
2. Screenshot with three fingers (gesture)
The MIUI feature is the ability to take a screenshot with a simple wire with three fingers from top to bottom, which is convenient when you hold your phone with one hand and press buttons with the other.
To activate the function:
- Go to Settings โ Additional โ Special Features โ Gestures
- Find the "Three Fingers Screenshot" and switch on the switch
- (Optional) In the gesture settings, you can select the direction of the gesture: from top to bottom or bottom to top.
Now just swipe Redmi 10 with three fingers (no matter which hand) with a slight delay at the beginning and end of the gesture.
Is the gesture not working?
| Method | Pluses | Cons | Works in games? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Power buttons + volume | It works always, even when the system is down. | Inconvenient with one hand, you can accidentally turn off the phone | Yes. |
| Three-finger gesture | Quick, comfortable with one hand. | It may work by accident, it doesnโt work in some games. | No (in 80% of games) |
| Voice command | Suitable for people with disabilities | Requires Internet connection, works unstable | No. |
| Notification panel | Visually clear, can be edited before saving | Takes up space in the curtain, does not work on a locked screen | No. |
3. Screenshot via notification panel
If you're uncomfortable remembering button combinations or gestures, MIUI has a built-in screenshot button right in the notification bar to use:
- Swipe down from the top edge of the screen to open the notification curtain
- Find the screenshot icon (usually hidden under the โMoreโ or โEditโ button).
- Drag it to the active area for quick access
- Now just click on this icon to take a screenshot.
The advantage of this method is the ability to edit a screenshot immediately after you create it: crop, add text or a picture, and you can also choose where to save the file: to the gallery, to the Mi Cloud cloud or send it to the messenger.

4.Voice Assistant (for MIUI 12.5 and later)
With the release of MIUI 12.5, Xiaomi has an improved voice assistant that can take screenshots on command, which is useful if your hands are busy or your sensor/buttons are not working.
To take a screenshot of the voice:
- Activate the voice assistant by saying, โOK Googleโ or โHi Siriโ (if configured)
- Tell the command to take a screenshot or a screenshot.
- Confirm the action (if required)
You can also use the Xiao AI brand assistant:
- ๐ค Press the Home button (if physical) or swipe diagonally from the bottom corner.
- ๐ฃ๏ธ Say โScreenshotโ or โPhotograph the screen"
Voice commands are unstable in weak Internet or noisy areas. For reliability, check the microphone settings in Settings โ Applications โ Permissions โ Microphone.

If the voice assistant doesn't recognize the command, try to pronounce it more clearly or reformulate it. For example, instead of "screenshot," say "take a picture of what's on the screen."
5. Screenshot in games and full-screen applications
Many Redmi 10 users face a problem: in games (such as PUBG Mobile, Genshin Impact) or applications with full-screen mode (such as YouTube, Netflix), standard ways to create screenshots do not work.
Solutions for game screenshots:
- ๐ฎ Use the built-in screen recording function (record 1 second of gameplay, then extract the frame through the video editor)
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Connect your phone to your PC via scrcpy and take a screenshot from your computer
- ๐ฑ Install a third-party app like Screenshot Touch (not working in all games)
For YouTube and streaming services, the only legal way to use the Screenshot feature in the notification panel before the full screen video is launched, and when the button goes full screen, it becomes inactive.
๐ก
In anti-cheat games (such as Call of Duty Mobile), any third-party screenshot software can result in an account being banned.
6.Save and edit screenshots
By default, all screenshots on Redmi 10 are saved in the Pictures/Screenshots folder, but you can change the location of the save or automatically upload them to the cloud:
