The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro remains one of the most popular smartphones among amateur photographers due to its 108-megapixel main camera and flexible settings. However, even with such a powerful hardware, the result is often disappointing - the photos are too dark, noisy or with the wrong white balance.
In this article, weβll look at not only the basics, but also the hidden MIUI features that Xiaomi doesnβt advertise, how to set your camera to different shooting conditions (portrait, night, motion), which modes actually work and which modes are better off, and how to get around the limitations of a standard application with GCam and other tools.
Important: All screenshots and instructions are relevant for MIUI 14/15 on the Redmi Note 10 Pro (sweet/sweetin models). If you have a different firmware version, some menu items may differ - but the settings remain the same.
1. Basic camera settings: what to turn off immediately
The standard Xiaomi camera app is loaded with unnecessary βchipsβ that only spoil the quality. The first thing to do is reset the settings to the factory and turn off automatic βimprovementsβ.
Go to Camera Settings β Restore the default settings.
- π Turn it off "AI-The camera, which artificially inflates saturation and contrast, makes the colors look unnatural.
- π Set "color style" to Standard (not "bright" or "saturated"). This will retain the natural tones.
- π Turn off the car.-HDR" β It is best to turn it on manually when you really need it (for example, in contrast lighting).
- π In the section Additional deactivate "Face Improvement" and "Body Correction" - they distort the proportions.
Note the aspect ratio. The default is 4:3, but it's more convenient for social media, 16:9 or 1:1. However, when shooting 108 MP, only 4:3 is available β in other modes, the camera automatically reduces the resolution to 12 MP.
2. Optimal parameters for daytime shooting
In sunny weather, the Redmi Note 10 Pro can deliver great images, but only if you set the exposure and focus correctly. The main mistake users make is trusting the automatic mode. Here's what you need to do manually:
- Exposure: Click on the screen in the brightest part of the frame and move the slider down by -0.3...-0.7 EV. This will prevent overlights.
- Focus: Use AF-S (Single Autofocus) for static objects and AF-C (Continuous) for moving objects.
- White balance: In cloudy weather, install Cloudy, not Auto β so the colors will be warmer.
To shoot landscapes, turn on Pro mode (Professional) and install:
- πΈ ISO: 100β200 (minimum value for noise reduction)
- β±οΈ Excerpt: 1/1000β1/500 (grease-free)
- π Focal distance: Use the main camera (108 MP) rather than the wide-angle β it has better detail.

Secret trick: if the pictures are too soft, turn on the option in the camera settings to Save original photos (in the section Additional). Then along with the processed file will save RAW - it can be modified in Lightroom or Snapseed.
3. Night photography: how to avoid noise and blur
The night mode on the Redmi Note 10 Pro works well, but only if you know its limitations. The main rule is: do not use digital zoom - in low light it only adds noise.
- Switch to the main camera (108 MP).
- Turn on Night mode and wait until the smartphone offers to use a tripod (icon) π bottom-screen).
- If there is no tripod, lean the phone against a hard surface or use a delay of descent (3 or 10 seconds).
In manual mode (Professional) for night shooting is optimal:
| Parameter | Meaning | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| ISO | 800β1600 | More is too noisy, less is too dark. |
| Excerpt. | 1/10-1/4 with | Longer, only with a tripod. |
| White balance | 3500β4000K | Otherwise, the colors will be too cold. |
| Format | RAW+JPEG | RAW is useful for post-processing |
β οΈ Attention: if there are moving objects (cars, people) in the frame, the night mode will "grease" them. ISO 1600-3200 and refine the photo in the editor.
Why do night photos turn green?
4. Portrait mode: how to avoid artificiality
The Redmi Note 10 Pro's background blur algorithm is often wrong, especially around hair or complex objects.
- π€ Use the main camera, not the front camera β it has better depth of field.
- π Keep the distance to the object 1-1.5 m. If too close - the background will blur ugly.
- π¨ In the Portrait Mode settings, turn off the Beauty Effect and set the Blurrance Level to 3-4 (out of 10).
- π After shooting, use the gallery portrait editing tool to manually adjust the blur mask.
For group portraits, it is better to use a wide-angle camera (but not a macro camera!), as it captures more space.
π‘
If portrait mode eats away at face details, take the photo as normal and blur later in the editor (e.g. Focos for iOS/Android).
5. Video: settings for stable 4K
Redmi Note 10 Pro shoots video in resolution up to 4K@30fps, but by default, unnecessary "improvements" are included that spoil the quality.
- Go to the camera settings β video settings.
- Turn off Video Stabilization (EIS) β it cuts the edges of the frame and adds artifacts. Better use physical stabilization (hold the phone with both hands or use an improvised tripod).
- Set the resolution to 4K and the frame rate to 30fps (at 60fps, the detail is lost).
- Activate Recording in HDR only in good lighting β in the dark it degrades quality.
For dynamic scenes (sports, dancing), it is better to reduce the resolution to 1080p@60fps, so the video will be smoother and autofocus will work faster. If you want slow-motion, use Slow-motion with 1080p@120fps settings.
β οΈ Attention: when filming in 4K If the phone overheats (warning appears at temperature) >45Β°C), lower the resolution to 1080p or take a break.
6. Hidden camera features: what is silent Xiaomi
Hidden in MIUI's firmware are some useful options that you can't see in the main interface, so you can activate them.
- Document Mode: Enable it through Settings β Additional β Shoot Modes. It automatically straightens photos of A4 sheets and improves text readability.
- Serial shooting in RAW: in professional mode hold down the down button β the phone will take a series of pictures in DNG format.
- Manual focus: In Professional mode, touch the icon π― and move the slider to fine-tune the focus (useful for macro photography).
- Wide Dynamic Range (WDR): Enable Settings β HDR. It is analogous to HDR, but it works faster.
Another secret: if you press and hold your finger on Zoom 2x in the camera interface, you will see a slider for smooth zoom (up to 10x), using hybrid zoom (a combination of optical and digital), which gives less loss of quality than a simple zoom.
π‘
The most useful hidden feature is the ability to save the settings of the professional mode as a preset. To do this, after setting the settings, click on the three dots in the upper right corner and select Save.
7. Alternative cameras: Should you put a GCam
Many Redmi Note 10 Pro users install Google Camera (GCam) to improve photo quality, but not all port versions are stable.
- β Pros of GCam: Best Processing HDR (More natural colors than a stock camera. Night Sight often performs better than Xiaomi's.
- β Cons of GCam: No support for 108 MP (maximum 12-48 MP); all cameras (e.g. macro or wide-angle) may not work; frequent departures when shooting video.
If you do decide to try it, download versions from the developers of BSG or Shako (for the Snapdragon 732G processor).
- Import. XML-Configuration for Redmi Note 10 Pro (e.g, MGC_8.1_V11.xml).
- In GCam settings, disable Sabre (it spoils colors).
- Set Awb (white balance) on Neutral or Cloudy.
β οΈ Note: Some versions of GCam are in conflict with MIUI If the phone gets too hot after installation, delete the app and go back to the stock camera.
8 Post-processing: How to save failed photos
Even with perfect settings, not all photos are successful. Fortunately, you can fix most of the problems in free editors:
- π± Snapseed: Selective correction tool to lighten the shadows on the face. HDR Scape β adds details in the over-lit areas.
- π₯οΈ Lightroom Mobile: Texture slider - sharpens artifact-free. Adobe Color profile - for natural color correction.
- π Focos (for portraits): Manual blur mask correction. Adding the Bokeh effect after shooting.
If the photo is too noisy, use Topaz Denoise AI (there is a free version). Adobe Camera Raw is suitable for restoring details in RAW.
Emergency: If the image is heavily overlit, convert it to black and white using the Drama filter in Snapseed β this hides color defects.
