Why screenshots on Redmi 10 arenโt as easy as they seem
Xiaomi Redmi 10 (a 2021 model, selene encoding) runs on the MIUI branded shell, which offers as many as 5 different ways to create screenshots. But here's the paradox: the more options, the more users get confused: some can't find pictures in the gallery, others accidentally activate scrolling mode instead of a regular screen, and still others do not even suspect the existence of gestures with three fingers that save time.
In this article, we'll look at not only the standard button combinations, but also little-known features like long screenshots for web pages or quick editing right after shooting, and you'll also learn why screens sometimes don't save (spoiler: it's not always the phone's fault) and how to return deleted images through MIUI Gallery. If you just bought Redmi 10 or upgraded to MIUI 14/15, this guide will save you hours of experimentation.
Warning: Some methods only work on stock firmware without custom recovery. If you have installed TWRP or LineageOS, some features may not be available, then go straight to the section on general methods (buttons + ADB).
Method 1: Classic button combination (always working)
This is a basic method that is guaranteed to work on any Redmi 10, regardless of the version of MIUI or the presence of root rights.
- Open the screen you want to capture (app, game, web page).
- At the same time, press the power button (right) and the volume reduction button (left).
- Hold them for 1โ1.5 seconds until you hear the shutter sound and see the screenshot animation.
โ ๏ธ Note: If you press the buttons longer than 2 seconds, a forced reboot will work (on Redmi 10 this is a function of Hard Reboot). Also, do not confuse volume reduction with magnification - the latter causes game turbo mode in games.
Where to look for a screenshot? By default, files are saved in the folder:
/storage/emulated/0/Pictures/Screenshots/Or through the gallery: open Photos โ Albums โ Screenshots. If the folder is empty, check the permissions for the Gallery app in the settings.

Method 2: Three-finger gesture (the fastest, but not everyone knows)
MIUI's signature feature is the ability to take a screenshot just by swiping three fingers across the screen from top to bottom, and it works even in games where the power and volume buttons are occupied by the gamepad.
- Go to Settings โ Additional โ Special. features โ gestures of buttons.
- Activate the Screenshot switch with a gesture (or Three-finger screenshot in English).
- Try to swipe across the screen - a preview should appear.
๐น Secret Life Hack: If you swipe your fingers from left to right, you'll turn on scrolling mode (long screenshot) and it works in your browser, messengers, and even Google Maps.
โ ๏ธ Attention: Redmi 10s MIUI The gesture 13 and below may conflict with navigation by gestures (if enabled). โ Display. โ Navigation panel.

Method 3: Notification panel (if buttons are broken)
If you don't have physical buttons working (for example, after the Redmi 10 crash), you can take a screenshot through the Quick Settings Panel.
- Flick the screen from top to bottom to open the notification bar.
- Click on the screenshot icon (scissors or rectangle with camera).
- If there is no icon, tap on Edit (pencil) and add it to the active elements.
๐น Problem: On some versions MIUI You click on the icon and you have a delay of 1-2 seconds, which is due to memory optimization. To speed up the process, close the background applications through the recent โ Clear it all up.
โ ๏ธ Note: If the notification panel does not open (for example, in full-screen game mode), use a three-finger gesture or voice assistant (about it in the next section).
Why did the screenshot icon disappear from the panel?
Method 4: Voice command (for those who like to talk)
If you're too lazy to press buttons, you can take a voice screenshot through Google Assistant or XiaoAI (brand assistant Xiaomi).
- Activate the assistant with the โOK, Googleโ command or by holding the Home button.
- Say, "Take a screenshot" or "Make a screenshot."
- Confirm the action in the window that appears.
For XiaoAI (only works on Chinese firmware or with an installed application):
- Press the power button for 2 seconds to call the assistant.
- Say in Chinese, "" (jiรฉtรบ) or in English, "Take a screenshot."
๐น Restriction: Voice commands are not working in banking apps and some games due to security policies MIUI.
โ ๏ธ Note: If the voice screenshot is not saved, check the permissions for Google App or XiaoAI in Settings โ Annexes โ Permits โ Warehouse.

To make the voice command work faster, add the phrase โTake a screenshotโ to the list of Google Assistantโs quick commands. To do this, open the assistant settings โ Communications โ Quick phrases.
Method 5: Long screenshot (for web pages and chats)
Scrolling Screenshot allows you to capture an entire long chat in Telegram or an article in your browser.
- Take a regular screenshot in any way (buttons, gesture, panel).
- Immediately after the miniature appears in the lower right corner, tap on it.
- In the editor that opens, click on the Scroll icon (two arrows down).
- Wait until the system automatically scrolls through the page and connects the parts into a single file.
๐น Important: The feature doesn't work in all applications. Here's a list of supported apps:
- ๐ Browsers: Chrome, Mi Browser, Firefox.
- ๐ฌ Messengers: Telegram, WhatsApp, Viber (only in chat rooms).
- ๐ Social networks: Facebook, Twitter, VKontakte (except stories).
- โ Not working: Instagram (due to content protection), TikTok, banking apps.
โ ๏ธ Note: If the screenshot is broken when scrolling, try it:
- Reduce the page scale (in the browser โ squeeze your fingers).
- Turn off the dark theme โ sometimes it knocks down the recognition algorithm.
- Try again in the horizontal orientation of the screen.

- โ๏ธ Drawing: brushes, markers, eraser (colors are customized).
