Xiaomi Redmi Go is one of the most affordable phones in the Xiaomi lineup, but that doesnโt stop it from being equipped with full-fledged features, including creating screenshots. However, due to the simplified shell of Android Go Edition and the lack of a branded MIUI, the process can be different from the usual smartphones of the Redmi Note or POCO series. If you just bought this phone or switched from another device, we will understand how quickly and error-free to take screenshots โ whether itโs a chat on WhatsApp, a map in Google Maps or important information in the browser.
Many users are faced with a problem: Redmi Go does not have a physical Menu button or gesture control, as on new models. But that does not mean that the functionality is limited! In this article, you will find 3 working methods (including hidden), tips for editing screenshots and answers to frequent questions - for example, where files are saved and how to quickly find them.
1. Standard method: button combination
The most versatile method that works on 99% of Android devices, including Xiaomi Redmi Go. You do not need to install additional apps or dig into the settings โ just remember the combination:
- ๐ At the same time, press the power button (right) and the volume reduction button (left).
- ๐ฑ Hold them for 1-2 seconds until the screen blinks and save animations (or the characteristic shutter sound) appear).
- ๐ Screenshot is automatically saved to the gallery in the Screenshots folder.
Important: Redmi Go has buttons that are close together, so you can accidentally press the wrong keys. If you don't get a picture, try:
- ๐งน Wipe buttons from dust or moisture โ they may not work well.
- ๐ Repeat the press, but with a slight delay (first power, then volume).
- ๐ ๏ธ Check if the cover blocks access to the buttons.
โ ๏ธ Warning: If the screen went out or rebooted after pressing the buttons, you held the combination for too long. + The volume down causes a forced reset.

2. Alternative method: through the notification panel
If the physical buttons on your Redmi Go are worn out or uncomfortable to use, you can take a screenshot through the software menu.
- ๐ฒ Slide through the notification bar down (swipe from the top edge of the screen).
- ๐ Find the screenshot icon (usually a scissors or a rectangle with a curved angle). If it's not, tap it. โ๏ธ Edit and add it to quick settings.
- ๐ธ Click on the icon - the screen will blink, and the screenshot will remain.
The advantage of this method is that it works even if one of the physical buttons is broken, but there is a caveat: on Android Go Edition, the notification bar may look different than on a standard MIUI.

Also note that on some firmware versions, the icon is hidden behind the button. โฎ And if it's not there, your version of the shell doesn't support this method.
3.The Secret Way: Google's Voice Assistant
Few people know, but Google Assistant can take voice-guided screenshots, which is especially useful if you're taking up your hands or the buttons on your phone are not working. Here's how to do this:
- ๐ค Activate the voice assistant: Long-press home (if physical) or say "OK, Google" (if enabled in the settings).
"Take a screenshot"
"Photograph the screen."
โ Confirm the action if the assistant requests permission.
This method does not work on all devices, but Xiaomi Redmi Go supports it thanks to the pure Android Go. The main thing is that it was enabled access to the microphone and the Internet (for processing voice commands).
โ ๏ธ Note: If Google Assistant says โcanโt take a screenshot,โ check it out: ๐ Permissions for Assistant in Settings โ Annexes โ Google โ Permits. ๐ Internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data). ๐ Updates for Google App in Play Market.
4. Where do I look for saved screenshots?
By default, all screenshots on Xiaomi Redmi Go are saved in the Screenshots folder, which is located in the main gallery.
| Creation | The way to preserve | File format |
|---|---|---|
| Power buttons + volumes | /storage/emulated/0/Pictures/Screenshots/ | .png (no compression) |
| Notification panel | /storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Screenshots/ | .jpg (compressed) |
| Google Assistant | /storage/emulated/0/Pictures/Assistant/ | .png |
| Third-party annexes | Depends on the application settings | .png or.jpg |
To quickly find the screenshots:
- ๐ Open the Gallery app (picture icon).
- ๐ On the menu, select Albums. โ Screenshots.
- ๐ If you donโt have a folder, use the file manager (e.g. Files by Google) and follow one of the paths above.
On Redmi Go, with limited memory, screenshots can be automatically archived in Google Photos. To turn off this feature, go to Settings โ Google โ Backup and turn off sync for the Screenshots folder.
๐ก
If screenshots are not saved, check the free space on the device. On Redmi Go with 8/16 GB of memory, the system can automatically delete old files if space is scarce.
5. How to edit screenshots directly on your phone?
The screenshot often requires cropping, blurring personal data, or adding text. Xiaomi Redmi Go has built-in tools for basic editing:
- โ๏ธ Pruning: Open a screenshot in the gallery โ press edit โ select the framing area.
- ๐๏ธ Drawing: In the editor, tap the pencil icon to add arrows or notes.
- ๐ค Text: T icon allows you to overlay the inscription (not available in all versions of Android Go).
- ๐ Blurring: Use apps like Blur Image to hide your personal data (free on Play Market).
If built-in tools arenโt enough, install one of these apps:
| Annex | Functions | Size |
|---|---|---|
| Photo Editor by Aviary | Filters, texts, stickers | 15MB |
| PicsArt | Collages, effects, background removal | 30MB |
| Screenshot Touch Up | Blurring, cropping, annotations | 5MB |
On Redmi Go, with limited resources, youโd better choose lightweight editors (up to 20MB). Avoid heavy apps like Adobe Photoshop Express, which can slow down.
๐ก
To quickly crop the screenshot immediately after you create, hold your finger on the thumbnail that appears in the lower right corner of the screen, and you'll get right into the editor.
Frequent problems and their solutions
Even on a device as simple as the Xiaomi Redmi Go, there can be errors in screenshots.
- ๐ซ Screenshot not saved: Check the free space on your phone (need at least 50MB). Reboot the device - sometimes cache reset helps. Update the firmware through Settings โ System system โ Update of the PO.
- ๐ No sound when saved: Make sure the sound is not turned off by the volume button. Check if the phone is in "Do Not Disturb" mode".
- ๐ฑ Screen flashes but screenshot doesn't appear: Try another method (like notification bar instead of buttons).Install a third-party screenshot app (like Screenshot Touch).
If none of these methods work, your Redmi Go may have the system permissions disabled to create screenshots to enable them:
- Go to Settings โ Applications โ Application permissions.
- Find the "Special Access" section.
- Enable the permission to "Create Screenshots" for system applications.
โ ๏ธ Note: Some custom firmware for Redmi Go can turn off screenshots at the kernel level, in which case only flashing the device will help.
7. Additional chips: long screenshots and screen recording
On Xiaomi Redmi Go you can not only take the usual screenshots, but also:
- ๐ Long Scrolling Screenshots: Take a regular screenshot. Immediately after saving, tap on the thumbnail at the bottom of the screen. Select the Scroll option (if available in your version of Android Go). If you don't have an option, use the LongShot app.
- ๐ฅ Screen recording: Hold the power button โ Select "Screen Record." Or set it. AZ Screen Recorder (light version for weak smartphones).
For Redmi Go with 1GB of RAM, it is recommended to record video at 720p resolution and 4 Mbps bitrate to avoid lags. Also turn off the sound recording from the microphone - this will reduce the load on the processor.
