Spam calls from intrusive marketers, loan offers and scam calls have become a real challenge for smartphone owners. Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco device owners often face the need to quickly and effectively restrict unwanted subscribers. Fortunately, MIUI shell and the new HyperOS provide powerful built-in tools to filter traffic.
You don't have to install third-party apps that can ask for extra permissions or overload the system. Standard functionality allows you to create blacklists, block entire prefixes of numbers, and even hide missed call notifications from blocked contacts. This is especially true when the phone is used for work, and unnecessary sounds distract from important tasks.
In this article, we will take a look at all the blocking methods available, from simple settings in the phone book to advanced rules for hidden numbers, learn how to set up automatic screening of ads and understand how antispam works at the system level, which will help you regain control of your personal space and silence.
Basic locking of a specific number through a call log
The easiest way to stop a call from a particular caller is to use a call history, which is ideal if you just got a call with an intrusive offer and want to blacklist the number immediately, and the algorithm is the same for most firmware versions, although the visual design may vary slightly.
Open the standard Phone app and go to the Log tab. Find the number you want in or out of the list of calls. Click on it to open a detailed contact card or action menu. Here you will see a lock icon or Lock.
Once clicked, the system will prompt you to confirm the action. In some versions of MIUI, you can also select the "Block and Delete" option to immediately clear the story, which ensures that the number can no longer reach you, and its calls will not cornen your eyes in the journal.

From the Blacklist menu, go to the policy settings and select Block by region code. Here you will see a list of countries. Just tick the countries you don't need. For example, if you live in Russia, you can safely block the codes of other countries if you don't wait for calls from abroad.
This feature works at the system level and does not require an internet connection after initial setup, effectively cutting off international spam, which often passes through operator filters.

Do Not Disturb as a Temporary Measure
Sometimes it's not a permanent lockdown, it's a temporary silence, and for those cases, Xiaomi has a Do Not Disturb mode. Unlike the blacklist, it doesn't cancel calls, it just makes the phone silent and doesn't vibrate when you call.

An important feature is the ability to create a Favorite List: even in Do Not Disturb mode, calls from selected contacts or repeated calls from a single number (recall function) can be skipped, which ensures that you do not miss an emergency.

Problem Solving: If the lock is not working
There are times when the rules are configured and spam calls keep coming in, most often due to a system update or a Security app reset, and first check if the firmware has updated or if the settings have gone wrong.
