Introduction: Why you need saved passwords and where to look for them
Modern Xiaomi Redmi Note smartphones automatically save passwords from websites, Wi-Fi networks, apps and even banking services β this is convenient, but not always safe. If you forget the password from a social network, mail or online bank, it can be restored directly on your phone without complex manipulation. In this article, we will analyze all the official and hidden ways to view saved passwords on the Redmi Note 8/9/10/11/12 and other models with the MIUI shell.
It's important to understand that the methods differ depending on where the password is saved - in a browser, a Google account, MIUI system storage, or a third-party manager (for example, 1Password or KeePass). We'll look at each option with step-by-step screenshots and security warnings. If you use a Xiaomi account, some of the passwords can sync with the cloud - this makes access easier, but requires additional protection.
Before you start, make sure you have access to your primary account on your phone (such as Mi Account or Google), without which some methods wonβt work, and remember that viewing passwords on someone elseβs device without the ownerβs consent violates the data privacy law (FZ-152 in Russia).
Method 1: View passwords in Google Chrome or MIUI Browser
The easiest way to do this is to use the built-in browser password manager. The Xiaomi Redmi Note has Google Chrome or the branded MIUI Browser installed by default. Both save logins and passwords when you autocomplete forms.
- Open the browser (Chrome or MIUI Browser).
- Go to the menu (three dots in the upper right corner) β Settings.
- Select the Passwords section (in Chrome) or Security β Save Passwords (in MIUI Browser).
- Enter. PIN-code, pattern lock or fingerprint to confirm.
In Google Chrome, you'll see a list of sites with logins. Click on any one to show your password (re-authentication is required). In MIUI Browser, the interface is similar, but with fewer options. If the password isn't in the list, it may not be stored in the browser, but elsewhere.
Check if autocomplete is enabled in your browser settings | Make sure you are logged in to the correct Google account | Update your browser to the latest version |Try another browser (e.g. Firefox or Edge)
-->
β οΈ Note: If you use Incognito Mode in Chrome, passwords are not saved, and some sites (such as banking sites) may block passwords from being saved for security reasons.
Method 2: Google Account Passwords (for all Android devices)
If you have logged in to sites or apps through a Google account, all saved passwords are available in Google Password Manager, a method that works on any Xiaomi Redmi Note, as it is based on Google services, not branded MIUI features.
- Open the phone settings.
- Go to Google. β Managing a Google Account.
- Select the Security tab.
- Scroll to the Login section of other sites and click Password Manager.
This will show all the saved logins and passwords synced with your account. To see the password, click on the site and confirm your identity (for example, through a fingerprint or a fingerprint). PIN-If the list is empty, check if password sync is enabled in Google settings.
| Browser/Service | Where passwords are stored | Do you need synchronization? |
|---|---|---|
| Google Chrome | Google Password Manager | Yes (in account settings) |
| MIUI Browser | MIUI Local Storage | No (only on this device) |
| Safari (if used) | iCloud Keychain (Apple only) | No (not compatible with Android) |
| Third-party managers (1Password, KeePass) | Cloud or local base | Depends on the application settings |

If you lose passwords often, enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for your Google account, which will protect your data even if someone learns the password.
Method 3: MIUI System Password Storage (Xiaomi only)
The MIUI shell has its own password repository that operates independently of Google, and can store data from Wi-Fi, some applications and system features to access:
- Open the Settings. β Passwords and security.
- Select Password Warehouse (on some versions of MIUI, this may be called Password Management).
- Confirm your identity with the help of PIN-code, pattern lock or biometrics.
In this section you will find:
- π Passwords from Wi-Fi networks (if the phone has previously connected to them).
- π± Data for logging into applications (if they support saving through MIUI).
- π Some web passwords (if the browser is integrated with the system).
Note: MIUI storage does not sync with the cloud by default. If you reset your phone to factory settings, all passwords in this section will be lost. To avoid this, enable backup in Settings β Xiaomi Account β Cloud β Backup.
In browser (Chrome, Firefox)| In Google | In system storage MIUI| In third-party manager (1Password, KeePass)| Write in a notebook / file | I do not save, remember

β οΈ Attention: On some firmware MIUI (Especially in the global versions for Europe, the Password Warehouse section may not be available.
Method 4: Wi-Fi passwords for Xiaomi Redmi Note
If you need to find out the Wi-Fi password that your phone was connecting to, you can do it without rooting. There are two ways to do it in MIUI:
Method 1: Wi-Fi settings (for MIUI 12/13/14)
- Open the Settings. β Wi-Fi.
- Click on the current network (or select the one saved from the list).
- Slip on the Share Badge (or QR-code on some versions).
- Confirm your identity with the help of PIN-code-print.
Then it will be displayed. QR-The code with the network data and the text password below it.
Method 2: Through a configuration file (for power users)
If the first method does not work, you can use the system file. wpa_supplicant.conf, where all the stored networks are stored:
- Install a Explorer with access to root folders (such as Solid Explorer or FX File Explorer).
- Go to /data/misc/wifi/WifiConfigStore/.
- Open the file. wpa_supplicant.conf text-edit.
- Find the network={...} block with your network name and it will have the psk="your password" string.
What to do if the file wpa_supplicant.conf open-ended?
If you are not sure about your actions, it is better to use the first method or look at the password on the router itself (usually it is indicated on the sticker).
Method 5: Third-party password managers (if you used them)
Many Xiaomi Redmi Note users install third-party password storage apps like 1Password, KeePass, Bitwarden or LastPass. If youβve used one of them, then:
- Open the application manager.
- Enter the master password (master password).
- Find the right website or service in the list.
- Copy the password or look it up directly in the app.
Third-party managers have the advantage of cross-platforming (passwords are available on your phone, computer, and tablet) and improved security (e.g., generating complex passwords), but if you forget your master password, it will be difficult to restore access to the database.
- π Bitwarden β open source, free tariff with synchronization.
β οΈ Warning: Never store a manager's master password in phone notes or cloud services. If you forget it, all other passwords will be lost forever.
Method 6: Recover passwords through backup (if nothing worked)
If you canβt find your password in any of the ways described above, but youβve previously backed up your phone, try recovering data from it. On the Xiaomi Redmi Note, backups are created through:
- Settings β About the phone β Backup and reset.
- Choose Local Backup or Xiaomi Cloud.
- Find the copy you want and restore the data (you may need to reset your phone).
Please note that:
- π Recovery will replace the current data on the phone (including apps and settings).
- β³ The process can take up to 30 minutes depending on the volume of the copy.
- π If the copy is encrypted, you will need to enter the password set when it was created.
If you donβt have a backup but you have an old phone, try transferring data from it via Mi Mover (a data migration app from Xiaomi).

Backups are your last hope: Regularly save important data to the Xiaomi or Google Drive cloud to avoid losses.
