Why would you need access to saved passwords?
Modern browsers on Xiaomi smartphones (including Redmi, POCO and Black Shark models) automatically offer to save usernames and passwords from sites β convenient, but not always safe. Over time, users forget invented combinations, especially if they use complex passwords with symbols or generators. There are situations when you need to remember the saved password: when you change the device, reinstall the browser or need to enter data on another gadget.
In this article, we will discuss legitimate ways to view passwords directly in the browser, without using third-party programs. Importantly, the methods only work for those accounts that you saved personally on this device. If the password belongs to someone else's profile (for example, on a work phone), viewing it may violate company security policies or privacy laws.
Before you start, make sure you have access to the device (screen unlocked) and remember PIN-code/password from the Mi Account. Without this, some methods will not be available.
Method 1: View passwords in the standard Mi Browser browser
Mi Browser is a Xiaomi browser pre-installed on most of the brand's devices, synced to your Mi Account and stored passwords encrypted to see them:
- Open the Mi Browser and tap the profile icon (human silhouette) in the lower right corner.
- Select the Settings item β Passwords.
- The system will request unlocking the screen (PIN, pattern lock or fingerprint).
- Once authenticated, you'll see a list of saved sites, and tap them, and you'll see the username and the Show Password button.
β οΈ Note: If you previously disabled sync with Mi Account, passwords may not be saved, and Mi Browser does not have a password export function - you can only view them.

If the password list is empty but you are sure you have saved the data, try:
- π Reboot the device β sometimes helps with display failures.
- π Log in to Mi Account on another device and check if passwords are displayed there.
- π± Update Mi Browser via Google Play or App Store (for global versions).
Method 2: Retrieving passwords from Google Chrome on Xiaomi
Many Xiaomi users install Google Chrome as their primary browser, and unlike the Mi Browser, it has the ability to not only view, but also export passwords to a file.
- Open Chrome and tap on three dots (menu) β Settings.
- Go to the Passwords section (may be called Password Management in older versions).
- Authentication with the help PIN-device code.
- Find the site you want in the list and click on it. The Show Password button will appear.
For export:
- Slip on the three dots in the upper right corner of the password screen.
- Select Export Passwords β confirm the action with PIN-code.
- Passwords will be saved to a.csv file that can be opened on a PC.
β οΈ Warning: The exported file contains passwords in plain form. Store it in a secure place (e.g., in an encrypted archive) and delete it after use. Do not send the file via email or messengers!

If Chrome doesnβt display saved passwords, check if sync is enabled in your Google Account settings (Settings β Google β Managing Google Account β Sync).
| browser | Viewing passwords | Password exports | Synchronization |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mi Browser | β Yes. | β No. | Through the Mi Account. |
| Google Chrome | β Yes. | β Yes (csv) | Through Google Account |
| Mozilla Firefox | β Yes. | β Yes (csv) | Through Firefox Account |
| Opera | β Yes. | β No. | Through Opera Account |
Method 3: Using Xiaomi Password Manager (for MIUI 12 and later)
Starting with MIUI 12, Xiaomi has built-in password manager that collects data from all supported browsers, a universal way that is not tied to a specific application.
- Open Settings β Passwords and Security β Password Manager.
- Pass authentication (PIN, fingerprint or facial recognition).
- Select the Saved Passwords tab.
- Slip on the desired site and click Show Password.
Advantages of this method:
- π Works with all browsers installed on the device (including Chrome, Firefox, Edge).
- π Syncs with Mi Account, so passwords are available on other Xiaomi devices.
- π‘οΈ Supports two-factor authentication for additional security.
β οΈ Note: If you reset your device to factory settings without backing up, all passwords from the manager will be deleted. β The phone. β Backup.

What to do if passwords are not displayed?
Sometimes saved passwords are lost or not loaded.
1.Syncs off
If you are not logged in to Mi Account or Google Account, passwords are stored only locally and may be lost when reset.
- π Enable synchronization in account settings.
- π± Restart the device and wait until sync is complete (may take up to 10 minutes).
2. Reset browser settings
If you cleared your cache or browser data through Settings β Apps, the passwords could be deleted. You can only restore them from a backup (if it was created).
3. Conflict with VPN or antivirus
Some security apps (like Avast or Kaspersky) block access to password managers. Try temporarily disabling them.
4.Outdated version of MIUI
On devices with MIUI 11 and older, the built-in password manager may not be available. Update your firmware through Settings β About Phone β System Update.

Alternative methods: when standard methods do not work
If none of the above methods worked, you can try advanced solutions that require technical skills and are suitable for advanced users.
1. Retrieving passwords through ADB (for developers)
Android Debug Bridge (ADB) allows you to access the browser database, which only works on unlocked bootloaders and requires a PC connection.
adb pull /data/data/com.android.chrome/app_chrome/Default/Login Data
sqlite3 Login\ Data"SELECT * FROM logins;"β οΈ Attention: Misuse of the right ADB This method violates Googleβs privacy policy and can be considered a hack.
2. Recovery from backup
If you previously backed up through Settings β Additional β Backup, passwords could be saved to a.miui file.
- π Connect the device to the PC and copy the backup file.
- π Use the Mi program. PC Suite for recovery of individual data.
3. Appeal in support of Xiaomi
If passwords are critical (for example, for work accounts), you can contact official support with proof of ownership of the device, but the chances of recovery are minimal - Xiaomi does not provide access to encrypted data of third parties.

Standard methods (through browser settings or password manager) are safe and legal. Alternative methods (ADBs, backups) are risky and may violate the user agreement.
Security: How to Protect Your Passwords on Xiaomi
Viewing saved passwords is a convenient feature, but it also creates risks, and if the device falls into the wrong hands, an attacker can easily access your accounts.
- π Use the complex PIN-code (at least 6 digits) or a high-complexity pattern lock.
- π Enable two-factor authentication for Mi Account and Google Account.
- π« Turn off displaying passwords in public places (in the browser settings there is an option Do not save passwords).
- π Regularly update the firmware in new versions MIUI Recovering password manager vulnerabilities.
- π± Install a remote control app (like Find Device) to lock your phone when you lose it.
On Xiaomi devices with MIUI 14 and later, passwords are stored in an encrypted storage, protected by the TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) hardware module, which means that even with physical access to the phone, it is almost impossible to extract passwords without unlocking.
If you sell or transfer the device to another person, you must:
- Perform a reset to factory settings (Settings β About Phone β Resetting).
- Delete your Mi Account from the Settings menu β Accounts.
- Clean your browser data manually (Settings β Applications β Browser β Storage β Clear Data).
