Introduction: Can I see the Google password on Xiaomi?
You try to log in to an app or service, but a Xiaomi phone requires you to enter a password from a Google account you don't remember? Or you want to transfer your account to another device but are afraid of losing access? The situation is complicated by the fact that MIUI does not show passwords in plain form - even those saved in a browser or system. However, there are several legal ways to restore or find this password without resorting to hacking.
In this article, we will discuss:
- π Where Xiaomi Stores Account Data (and Why You Can't Just Copy It)
- π± How to view saved passwords in Google Chrome and other browsers
- π How to restore access through official Google services
- β οΈ Risks of using third-party programs to extract passwords
- π οΈ What to do if your account is blocked after unsuccessful login attempts
Importantly, if you're looking for a way to get around factory lock (FRP) after a phone is reset, it's a different procedure, and it requires a separate instruction, and it's about restoring access to an existing Google account linked to the device.
Method 1: View saved passwords in Google Chrome
If youβve previously logged in to a Google account through a browser on a Xiaomi phone, chances are that the password is saved in the Chrome Password Manager.
- Open the Google Chrome browser on your phone.
- Slip on the three dots in the upper right corner β select Settings.
- Go to the Passwords section (may be called Password Management).
- Enter. PIN-code or fingerprint.
- Find your email in the list of accounts.google.com or your email β next to the Show Password button (eye).
β οΈ Note: If you donβt see the Passwords section in Chrome settings, then:
- π Password synchronization disabled (check in Settings) β Synchronization).
- π« You have never saved a password in this browser.
- π± You have an outdated version of Chrome installed (update it to the Play Store).
Check if sync is enabled in your Google account|Update your browser to the latest version|Try to log into your account on another device|Use a Recovery Method through email/phone-->
If the password is displayed but you donβt recognize it, it may be a temporary code or it was generated automatically (e.g. when you set up Xiaomi after you buy it), then youβd better use the official Google Restore.
Method 2: Recovering passwords through Google services
The most reliable (and only official) way to reclaim your account is to use Googleβs recovery system, which works even if you donβt remember your password or backup email.
Instructions:
- Open your browser on your phone and click on the link: https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery.
- Enter an email account whose password is forgotten.
- Press on. β Forgot the password?.
- Google will offer you recovery options: π§ Send the code to a backup email. π± Send. SMS tethered. π Use the backup code (if you have saved it).
If none of the methods are available, Google may request additional information (such as the date of creation of the account or the last devices used).
β οΈ Note: If you donβt have a backup email or phone attached to your account, and you donβt have two-factor authentication set up, you have minimal chances of recovery, so youβll have to create a new account and transfer data manually (contacts, photos, notes).
Once a month | Once every six months |Only when I forget |Never change-->
| Method of recovery | Required. | Time. | Success |
|---|---|---|---|
| Code to backup email | Access to the post office | 2-5 minutes | 90% |
| SMS on the phone | SIM card on the phone | 1-2 minutes | 85% |
| Backup code | Save the code. | 30 seconds | 100% |
| Additional matters | Knowledge of account history | 5-10 minutes | 60% |
If the recovery is successful, it is necessary to:
- π Set up two-factor authentication (Google Settings) β Security β Two-step verification).
- π Keep your backup codes in a safe place (e.g., in Encrypted Notes).
- π± Link your account to multiple devices (so you donβt lose access when your phone breaks down).
Method 3: View passwords in MIUI settings (only for some models)
Some versions of MIUI (e.g. MIUI 12-14 on Redmi Note 10/11 or Xiaomi 12/13) have a built-in password manager that can store data from accounts.
- Open the Settings. β Passwords and security.
- Choose a Password Manager (or Autocomplete).
- Enter a pattern lock or PIN to confirm.
- Check the list of saved accounts β if there are accounts.google.com, tap it and click Show Password.
π Important: This method doesn't work on all devices. POCO or older models (Redmi) 9A, Note 8 Pro may not have such a partition. MIUI does not store data if you did not give permission to do so when you first logged in to your account.
π‘
If the password manager is empty, try to enable sync in Settings β Google Accounts β Sync and wait 5-10 minutes. Sometimes passwords are not loaded immediately.
Method 4: Use of the account.db file (for advanced users)
Technically, Google account passwords can be stored encrypted in Android system files, but itβs almost impossible to extract them without root permissions. If you have ADB experience and are willing to take a chance, try this:
β οΈ Note: This method requires unlocking the bootloader and can result in a loss of warranty or locking the device!
- Activate Developer Mode (7 times tap the MIUI version in Settings β About Phone).
- Enable USB debugging in Settings β Additional β For developers.
- Connect your phone to your PC and execute the command: adb pull /data/system/users/0/accounts.db
- Open the account.db file with the SQLite browser and find the account table.
- Passwords will be encrypted, and additional tools will be needed to decrypt them (for example, John the Ripper).
π Warning: Even if you can extract a password hash, it can take days or weeks (depending on the complexity) to crack it, and Google blocks accounts when suspicious activity occurs.
What happens if Google blocks the account?
Method 5: Transfer your account to another phone (if your password is lost)
If you canβt recover your password, but you have access to Xiaomiβs phone (meaning itβs not locked), you can transfer your account to another device without entering your password.
- On your old phone, open Settings β Google Accounts.
- Select your account β Synchronization β enable synchronization of all data (contacts, calendar, notes).
- On the new device, add the same Google account (when you first turn on or through Settings β Accounts).
- The system can request a password, but sometimes it is enough to confirm the login via SMS or notification on the old phone.
If this method does not work, try:
- π² Sign in to your account via Google Smart Lock (if you have set up one).
- π₯οΈ Use the web version of Google on PC (sometimes itβs easier to restore access there).
- π§ Check emails for emails from Google with backup codes or login notifications.
π‘
If a Xiaomi phone is locked after a reset (FRP), the only legal way to unlock is to enter a password from a linked Google account. bypassing FRP through third-party programs violates the terms of use and can lead to complete data loss.
What NOT to do when restoring your password
Users often make mistakes in their attempts to re-access their accounts, which make things worse, and this is strictly forbidden:
- π« Use programs to crack passwords (such as Mi Account Unlock Tool or FRP Bypass: They often contain viruses or lead to account locking.
- π Repeatedly enter different passwords β after 5-10 unsuccessful attempts, Google will block the login for 24 hours.
- π± Reset your phone to factory settings if you're not sure you know the password on your account. FRP-lockdown.
- π³ Buying βunblockingβ from third parties β scammers often ask for payment for fictitious services.
β οΈ Note: If you find a guide on the Internet that offers:
- π§ Make changes to the build.prop file,
- π¦ Install modified firmware (custom) ROM),
- π Use "secret codes" like #4636##,
Know that these are either outdated methods (they donβt work on MIUI 13/14) or scams.
