You forgot your password from a social network, email or online bank, but remember exactly that you saved it to Google on your Xiaomi smartphone? Donβt rush to reset your account or restore access β most likely, your data is already synchronized with the system. In this article, we will analyze where Google passwords are stored on Xiaomi phones (including Redmi, POCO and Black Shark models), how to find them through the browser, MIUI settings or the web version of the account, and discuss the nuances of security.
Itβs important to understand that Xiaomi uses its own MIUI shell, which sometimes modifies standard Android features. For example, in some firmware, the password management menu can be hidden deeper than in βpureβ Android. We took these features into account and collected current methods for all versions of MIUI 12-14 and HyperOS (2026). If you use third-party browsers like Mi Browser or Chrome, the instructions will also fit β as long as you are logged in to the same Google account.
Warn in advance: Access to saved passwords requires proof of identity (PIN-If you don't remember the data to unlock the screen, first restore it through Find My Device or i.mi.com.
1. How to view passwords through the Chrome browser on Xiaomi
The most versatile way is to use Google Chrome's built-in password manager, which works on all Xiaomi smartphones, regardless of the MIUI version, and syncs data between devices. Here's how to get there:
- Open Chrome (if not, install it from Google Play).
- Slip on the three dots in the upper right corner β select Settings.
- Go to the Passwords section (may be called Password Management in older versions).
- Enter. PIN-code.
- You'll see a list of sites with logins and passwords saved, and to see the password, tap it in the eye.
If the list is empty, check:
- πΉ Sync: Go to Google Settings β Account management β Synchronize and enable the password option.
- πΉ Autocomplete: In Chrome settings, save passwords should be active.
- πΉ Browser default: If you used Mi Browser, passwords could be saved there (more on this in the next section).
π‘
If you don't see the site you want, try manually entering its address in Chrome and waiting for the suggestion to save the password. Sometimes the system "forgets" to add data on the first login.
On Xiaomi with MIUI 14 and HyperOS, the path may be slightly different due to customization of the interface. For example, in some firmware, the password section is hidden in Settings β Google β Managing Google Account. If you donβt, search by settings (the magnifying glass icon at the top of the screen).
2. Passwords in Mi Browser: where to look on Xiaomi
Many Xiaomi users prefer the Mi Browser browser instead of Chrome, which also saves passwords, but stores them separately from Google.
- Open Mi Browser.
- Put three points on it. β Settings.
- Choose Privacy and Security β Password management.
- Confirm your identity with biometrics or PIN-code.
Here you'll see a list of sites that have stored data. Note that the passwords in the Mi Browser don't sync with Google, they're only tied to this device, and if you reset your phone to factory settings, you lose access to them.
What if Mi Browser doesnβt save passwords?
If you use both browsers (Chrome and Mi Browser), passwords can be duplicated or stored in only one of them. To avoid confusion, choose one manager and disable save in the other.

If you donβt have access to your phone or want to manage passwords from your computer, use the web version of your Google account, which works for all Android devices, including Xiaomi, and allows you to:
- π View all saved passwords.
- π Export them to CSV-file (in case of backup).
- ποΈ Remove outdated data.
Instructions:
- Open a browser on any device and go to passwords.google.com.
- Sign up with the same Google account as you do on Xiaomi.
- Enter your account password (if two-factor authentication is enabled, confirm your login via SMS or Google Authenticator app).
- You'll see a complete list of saved passwords. To see a specific one, click on the website β eyewitness next to the password field.
This is a great way to do it if you want to transfer passwords to a new phone or check what data is stored in the cloud, but remember, if you delete the password here, it will disappear on all synced devices.
4.Where passwords are stored in MIUI settings
The MIUI shell has its own account management section, but it doesn't work on all Xiaomi models, which typically displays passwords from Wi-Fi networks, applications and some system services.
- Open the phone settings.
- Go to Passwords and Security (on some devices, this section is called Security or Privacy).
- Select Password Management or Account Storage.
- Confirm access using biometrics.
Here you can see:
| Type of data | Description | Where else to find |
|---|---|---|
| Wi-Fi passwords | Keys to connected networks | Settings β Wi-Fi β Saved networks |
| Application passwords | Data for autocomplete in games / social networks | In the settings of a particular application |
| Systemic PIN-code | Unlocking codes for SIM or encrypted folders | B Settings β SIM-maps and mobile networks |
If you donβt have a password management section, your version of MIUI doesnβt support this feature, so use the methods in the previous sections (Chrome or Google account).
π‘
On Xiaomi HyperOS phones (2026), the Password Management section may be called βStorage of credentialsβ and be in the βAdditionalβ submenu inside the security settings.
5. Alternative ways: Third-party password managers
If you don't trust Google's built-in tools or MIUI, you can use third-party password managers, which offer additional features like complex password generation, leak checks, and cross-platform synchronization. Popular options for Xiaomi:
- π 1Password β It's a paid trial, but it's free, it supports biometric authentication.
- π Bitwarden β open source, free tariff with basic features.
- π KeePassDX β Local Storage (Passwords do not go to the cloud).
- π LastPass is a user-friendly interface, but there were problems with data leaks in 2022-2023.
To transfer passwords from Google to a third-party manager:
- Export data from passwords.google.com (click on three-points β Export passwords).
- Download the.csv file to your phone.
- Import it to the selected manager (most apps have the option of importing from CSV).
πΉ Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) managerial
πΉ Don't keep it. CSV-Password file on the phone after import
πΉ Use a unique master password (at least 12 characters)
πΉ Turn off autocomplete for critical services (banks, crypto exchanges)-->
On Xiaomi with MIUI, some managers (like Bitwarden) may conflict with system autocomplete. To fix this, go to Settings β System β Language and Input β Additional β Autocomplete and select your manager as the default service.
6.Security: How to Protect Your Passwords on Xiaomi
Accessing your passwords is like a key to all your accounts, and if someone gets it, they can hack your emails, social media, even your banking apps, so that doesn't happen, follow the rules.
β οΈ Warning: Never share screenshots with passwords (even if they are closed by stars) and attackers can recover text using special algorithms.
- π Use the complex PIN-code (not date of birth or 1234) You can set an Alpha-digital password to Settings on Xiaomi β Lock screen.
- π Enable device encryption: Settings β Additionally. β Encryption and credentials.
- π Turn off autocomplete for sensitive services (banks, cryptocurrency wallets).
- π Check out the leaks regularly on Have I Been Pwned.
If you suspect someone has accessed your passwords:
- Change your Google account password immediately (this will disable all synced data).
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) in Googleβs settings.
- Check out active sessions: Google Settings β Security β Your Devices.
π‘
On Xiaomi with HyperOS, you can configure Private Mode, which hides notifications with confidential data. Activated in Settings β Privacy β Private Mode.
7. Frequent problems and their solutions
Sometimes Xiaomi users find that passwords are not displayed or lost after the update.
| Problem. | Possible cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Passwords are not synchronized | Synchronization in Google account is disabled | Include it in Settings β Accounts β Google β Synchronization |
| Password list is empty | Used another browser (such as Firefox) | Check the autocomplete settings in this browser |
| Error "Cannot download passwords" | Problems with the Internet or Google servers | Restart your phone or check the connection |
| Passwords missing after reset | Google sync was not enabled | You canβt restore it β in the future, turn on backup. |
If you upgraded Xiaomi to a new version of MIUI or HyperOS and stopped seeing passwords, try:
- Clear the cache of the Settings application β Apps β Google β Storage β Clear the cache.
- Update Google Play Services to the Play Store.
- Delete and re-add your Google account in your phone settings.
β οΈ Note: Do not use apps like Password Viewer or Show Passwords from unknown sources. They can be malicious and steal your data.
