Xiaomi’s anti-spam system is a built-in protection mechanism that blocks unwanted messages, calls and notifications from potentially dangerous sources. However, sometimes it works too aggressively: filters important SMS from banks, blocks calls from unknown numbers (including delivery services), or even interferes with messengers. If you encounter false positives or just want to get full control of incoming data, this article will help disable anti-spam on Xiaomi in whole or in part.
It is important to understand that deactivating protection can increase the risk of receiving fraudulent messages or phishing calls. We recommend pre-configuring exceptions for critical contacts, and then proceeding to disable. This guide covers methods for all current versions of MIUI (including MIUI 14/15 and HyperOS), as well as universal solutions through ADB for advanced users.
1. Disable antispam in standard MIUI settings
The easiest way is to use built-in system options, which is suitable for most Xiaomi, Redmi, Poco and Black Shark models based on MIUI 12-15 or HyperOS. You do not need root rights or additional programs.
Go to the menu: Settings → Applications → Application Management → All applications.
In the list, look for "Security" (or "Security" in English firmware) and open its settings. Here you are interested in two sections:
- 📵 Spam protection in messages: disables filtering SMS and MMS. After deactivation, all messages will arrive in the inbox without sorting.
- 📞 Spam Call Protection: blocks automatic identification of fraudulent numbers, calls from unknown subscribers will be made without restrictions.
- ⚙️ Additional settings: here you can reset the list of blocked numbers or disable spam notifications.
If you're in your version MIUI There is no separate item "Security", try an alternative way: Settings → PapaSSWORD & SECURITY → Spam protection.
On some firmware, the option is hidden in the Special Opportunities → System settings section.
⚠️ Warning: After disabling antispam in settings MIUI The system can continue to filter messages through the cloud service Xiaomi Cloud. To fully deactivate the protection, go to Settings → Xiaomi account → Mi Cloud → Synchronize and disable the option “Spam filter synchronization».
2. Deactivation of antispam through the application "Security"
The Security app (or Security) is the central security management node at Xiaomi, where all the tools to fight spam, viruses and fraud are concentrated.
- Open the Security app (the shield icon on your desktop).
- Go to the “Security” or “Protection” tab.
- Find the “Spam Protection” (antispam) block and tap it.
- Turn off the sliders next to the options: 📱 Message filtering 📞 Blocking spam calls 🌐 Browser protection (if any)
"Disable."
On some devices (such as Xiaomi 13 Pro or Redmi Note 12), there is an option called Cloud Protection in this section, which should also be deactivated if you want to get rid of filtering completely. Please note that after disabling antispam through the Security app, some features (such as checking for phishing links) may remain active in Mi Browser or Google Chrome – they need to be disabled separately.
3. Resetting anti-spam settings to factory
If you have previously set up anti-spam manually (blacklisted numbers or created filtering rules), resetting will help bring all parameters back to default.
- 🔄 You want to start the setup from a clean slate.
- 🚫 Antispam works unpredictably (for example, it blocks all incoming spam). SMS).
- ❌ Previous shutdown methods didn't work.
For discharge:
- Open Settings → Applications → Application Management.
- Find "Security" and tap it.
- Select "Storage" (or "Storage").
- Click on “Clear Data” and confirm the action.
This method will remove all user anti-spam settings, including:
| Type of data | What will be removed |
|---|---|
| Blacklist. | All blocked numbers and contacts |
| Whitelist | Exemptions for Important Subscribers |
| Spam magazine. | History of blocked messages and calls |
| User rules | Configured filters for SMS/MMS |
⚠️ Note: Resetting the Security app will also remove the settings of the virus scanner, call blocker and application protection.
4. Disabling antispam via ADB (for advanced)
If standard methods don’t work (e.g., custom firmware or regional versions of MIUI), you can use Android Debug Bridge (ADB), which requires connecting your smartphone to your computer and basic command line knowledge.
Before you start, make sure that:
Installed drivers Xiaomi on PC
Developer mode on the phone is enabled (Settings → About the phone → MIUI version → 7 times tap)
USB debugging is activated (Settings → Additional → For developers → USB debugging)
Downloaded and unpacked by Google’s ADB Tools
-->
Follow the instructions:
- Connect your smartphone to your PC through USB-cable (use the original cable for connection stability).
- Open the command prompt (cmd in Windows or Terminal in macOS/Linux) and go to the folder with ADB.
- Enter the command to check the connection: adb devices If the device appears in the list, you can continue.
- Run an command to disable antispam: adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.antispam For some firmware, an alternative command may be required: adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.miui.antispam
- Reboot the device: adb reboot
On some devices (e.g. Xiaomi 12T or Poco F5), antispam is integrated into the Security system application and cannot be disabled separately.
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.securitycenterPlease note: this will disable all security features, including the virus scanner and call blocking.
What if the ADB can’t see the device?
5 Manual editing of system files (root)
This method is only suitable for users with unlocked bootloader and root rights. It allows you to completely remove anti-spam components from the system, but requires caution - incorrect actions can lead to the failure of the device.
To edit system files, you will need:
- 📱 Device with root access (e.g. via Magisk).
- 💻 PC fitted ADB and Fastboot.
- 📂 Backup copy of the system partition (system.img).
Instructions:
- Download and install a root-enabled file manager, such as Root Explorer or FX File Explorer.
- Go to /system/priv-app/MiuiAntispam or /system/app/AntiSpam.
- Remove or rename the folder (for example, in the MiuiAntispam_bak).
- Reset the device.
An alternative way is to disable via build.prop:
- Open /system/build.prop file in root-access text editor.
- Add a line to the end of the file: ro.miui.antispam.enable=false
- Save the changes and restart the smartphone.
⚠️ Note: Editing system files may disrupt the work MIUI or cause errors when updating the firmware.Be sure to back up through TWRP Or OrangeFox Recovery. If the device stops booting after manipulation, restore the original one. system.img via Fastboot.
adb shell ls /system/priv-app/ | grep -i spamThis will help you avoid mistakes when finding the right path.-->
6. Alternative methods: cloud services and third-party applications
If you don’t need to completely disable antispam, but simply set it up more flexibly, consider the following options:
- ☁️ Disabling Cloud Spam Sync: Go to Settings → Xiaomi account → Mi Cloud → Synchronize and deactivate the spam filter option, which will stop spam data from being shared between devices.
- 📱 Use of third-party SMS-Customers: Install an alternative messaging app (like Google Messages or Textra) and make it the default app.built-in antispam MIUI It will not work with these programs.
- 🔧 Set up exceptions: In the Security app, add important numbers to the whitelist (Antispam) → Exceptions. This will allow for the SMS Calls from selected contacts without blocking.
For users who want to maintain basic protection but reduce the aggressiveness of the filtering, the Notification Only mode will work, in which case the antispam will flag the spam, but not block it automatically.
- Open "Security» → «Antispam».
- Slap the icon. ⚙️ (settings) in the upper corner.
- Select “Notification Mode” instead of “Automatic Lock”.
If you prefer third-party solutions, look for apps like Truecaller or Hiya, which offer more flexible filtering settings than built-in MIUI antispam, but require separate setup and can collect data about your contacts.
💡
Disabling cloud-based spam synchronization (Mi Cloud) is the safest way to reduce the aggressiveness of filtering without fully deactivating the protection.
