What is Turbo Charging and Why You Need It
Xiaomiβs Turbo Charge technology significantly reduces battery charging time by increasing the power of the current supplied. Depending on the smartphone model, this feature can be called Turbo Charging, Fast Charge+ or HyperCharge (in the latest generation flagships). For example, the Xiaomi 12 Pro supports 120W HyperCharge, which allows you to charge the battery to 100% in just 18 minutes.
However, many users find that even with supportive technology, charging is standard, which can be due to a disabled function in settings, the use of a non-original charger, or the limitations of the MIUI firmware. In this article, we will discuss all possible ways to enable Turbo charging, from basic to hidden.
It's important to understand that accelerated charging isn't always available by default on budget models, even if they technically support increased power. The manufacturer can artificially limit the feature to extend battery life.
Checking for Turbo Charging Support with Your Xiaomi Model
Before you try to activate the mode, make sure your smartphone supports it. Here is a list of popular Xiaomi models with fast charging technology:
| Model | Max. Charging power. | Technology | Is activation required? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi 13 Ultra | 90W | HyperCharge | No (on by default) |
| Redmi Note 12 Pro+ | 120W | Turbo Charge | Yes (sometimes disabled) |
| POCO F5 Pro | 67W | Fast Charge+ | Yes (via settings) |
| Xiaomi 11T Pro | 120W | HyperCharge | No. |
| Redmi K50 Gaming | 120W | Turbo Charge | Yes (via engineering menu) |
If your model is not in the table, check the specifications on the official Xiaomi website or in the documents to the device. Please note: even if the smartphone supports 33W or 67W, the 18W charger can come with the kit - this is normal practice for budget lines.
β οΈ Note: Using chargers from other manufacturers (such as Samsung or OnePlus) can cause Turbo charging to not be activated even if the power matches. Xiaomi often uses proprietary protocols for sharing data between the smartphone and adapter.
Method 1: Enable through standard MIUI settings
The easiest method is activation via the MIUI menu. It works on most modern Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones with the MIUI firmware version 12 and later.
- Open the Settings app (cog icon).
- Go to the Battery and Performance section.
- Select Charging or Fast Charging (the name may vary).
- Activate the Turbo Charging switch or Accelerated Charging.
- If available, enable Adaptive Charging to optimize the process.
Some models (like the Redmi Note 11 Pro+) may require additional confirmation through a pop-up window, so if the Turbo charging option is not on the menu, then your firmware is hiding it, move on to the next way.
Use the original Xiaomi cable and adapter
Update MIUI to the latest version
Charge the battery to at least 15%
Turn off the power saving mode-->
Method 2: Activate through the Engineering Menu (for advanced)
If the standard settings do not allow Turbo charging to be enabled, you can try activating it through the engineering menu, which requires caution, since improper actions can lead to malfunctions of the device.
- Open the phone app and enter the combination: ##4636##
- In the menu that opens, select Battery Information.
- Scroll down and find Fast Charge Config or Turbo Charge Mode.
- Select Enable (if there are several options available, try Force Fast Charge).
- Reboot your smartphone.
On some models (e.g., the POCO X3 Pro), the engineering menu may not contain a direct mention of Turbo charging, in which case, try the alternative code:
##2846579## β ProjectMenu β Battery β Fast Chargeβ οΈ Warning: Changing the parameters in the engineering menu without understanding the consequences can lead to overheating of the battery or a decrease in its life. If after activation the smartphone began to heat up very much, return the settings to the original state.
What to do if the engineering menu is not opened?
Method 3: Use ADB-Teams (for experienced users)
If previous methods have failed, you can try enabling Turbo charging via ADB (Android Debug Bridge), which is suitable for users familiar with USB debugging.
- Turn on Developer Mode: Go to Settings β About Phone. Tap 7 times on the MIUI Version until the notification appears.

ADB
adb devicesIf the device is determined, perform:
adb shell settings put global fast_charge 1Reboot your smartphone.
Some models (such as the Xiaomi Mi 11) may require an additional command:
adb shell settings put global turbo_charge_enabled 1If the charging didnβt accelerate after the instructions were executed, check the ADB logs for errors. Your firmware may be blocking changes at the software level.

Before using ADB, back up your data via Settings β System β Backup. This will help you recover information in the event of a crash.
Method 4: Update the firmware to the latest version of MIUI
Often, Turbo charging doesn't work because of an outdated firmware version. Xiaomi regularly releases updates that fix charging errors and add support for new protocols.
- Go to Settings β About the phone β System update.
- Click Check for updates.
- If a new version is available, download and install it.
- After the update, restart the device and check the charging settings.
If the problem persists, try resetting to factory settings (Settings β System β Reset), but note that this will remove all data from the device.
