Why Xiaomi doesnβt show charging percentages and how to fix it
Did you just buy the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+ or upgrade your firmware to POCO F5 and the battery indicator suddenly stops showing exact percentages? Or did the usual digital indicator in the notification bar disappear after resetting? This problem is familiar to many owners of devices on MIUI - sometimes charging percentages disappear after a system update, changing the shell or even due to a bug in a particular version of the firmware.
In this article, weβll look at all the possible ways to return percentages, from standard MIUI settings to hidden features through ADB and third-party apps. Youβll learn how to turn on numbers next to the battery icon, adjust their display on the lock screen, and even add a charging widget to the home screen. And if your Xiaomi model stubbornly doesnβt want to show percentages, thereβs a section at the end of this article with alternative solutions.
Before you get to the instructions, check two things: 1 Make sure your device is at least 10% charged β at a critical charge level, MIUI can hide percentages. 2) Reboot your smartphone β sometimes this solves the problem without additional actions.
Method 1: Standard MIUI settings (works on 90% of models)
The easiest method is to use the built-in shell options, which is suitable for most devices on MIUI 12, 13, 14 and HyperOS (including Redmi 12/13, POCO X5, Xiaomi 13T, etc.).
- Open Settings (the gear icon on the main screen).
- Go to the Screen section (or Display on some firmware).
- Select Status Line (older versions of MIUI may call it Notification Panel).
- Find the option to show the percentage of battery charge and activate it.
If your menu doesnβt have a Status Line, try an alternative path: Settings β Battery & Performance β Battery Settings β Display Percentage.
βοΈ What to do if there is no option "Stage bar"
Important! On some models (for example, Black Shark 5), the option is hidden in the Game Space section. Also note that after upgrading to HyperOS, the path to settings may change - use the search by settings (the magnifying icon in the upper right corner).
Method 2: Configure the display on the lock screen
Charging percentages can be displayed not only in the status bar, but also on the lock screen, which is convenient if you want to see the battery level without unlocking the phone.
- Go to Settings β Lock screen.
- Select Lock Screen Style (or AOD Settings for the AMOLED-display).
- Activate the option to Show battery information.
- In some firmware, you need to additionally select a Digital Indicator instead of a graphic one.
On Always-On Display (AOD) devices (such as Xiaomi 14 or Redmi K60 Ultra), interest can be withdrawn continuously:
- π Go to Settings. β Lock screen β Always-On Display
- π Choose a style with a digital display of charge
- β‘ Turn on the option to show when charging (if necessary)
Note for POCO owners: On some models (e.g., the POCO F4 GT), the option is hidden in Settings β Special features β System settings. If you canβt find it, try the ADB method in the next section.
Method 3: Use of widgets and third-party applications
If standard methods don't work, you can output charging percentages using widgets or utilities, which is universal and works even on custom firmware.
Option 1: MIUI Battery Widget
Many people forget that MIUI has a built-in widget to display charge:
- Press and hold the empty space on the main screen.
- Select Widgets from the bottom menu.
- Find the Battery widget (usually in the Tools category).
- Drag it to the main screen or lock screen (if supported).
Option 2: Third-party annexes
If the built-in tools donβt suit you, install one of these apps (available on Google Play):
- π± Battery Percentage β Minimalist widget with color and font size setting
- β‘ Battery Widget Reborn β Supports themes and animation
- π AccuBattery β shows percentages + analyzes battery health
- π GSam Battery Monitor β for advanced users with detailed statistics
π‘
If the widget doesnβt update percentages after installation, check the permissions for the application in Settings β Apps β Permissions β Other permissions β Display on top of other windows
Warning: Some battery display applications may consume extra charge due to background activity.Give preference to high-rated (4.5+ stars) utilities and low resolution.
Method 4: Include interest through ADB (for power users)
If previous methods have failed and the settings donβt have the right option, you can force the display of interest via Android Debug Bridge (ADB), which works on most Xiaomi devices but requires a connection to a computer.
What you need:
- π₯οΈ Computer with Windows/macOS/Linux
- π Cable USB (preferably original)
- π₯ Utility. ADB Tools by Google
- π± Included debugging by USB smartphone
Step-by-step:
- Activate Developer Mode on Xiaomi: Go to Settings β About Phone and click on MIUI Version 7 times.
- Return to Settings β Additional β For developers and enable USB debugging.
- Connect your phone to your computer and confirm your trust in the device.
- Open the command prompt (Windows) or terminal (macOS/Linux) in the folder with ADB.
- Enter the command: adb shell settings put global battery_percent 1
- Reboot your smartphone.
If you want to disable interest, use the same command by replacing 1 with 0.
What if the ADB canβt see the device?
Attention. β οΈ
Incorrect use of ADB can cause system failures. On some Xiaomi models (e.g. Redmi Note 11 with MIUI 13.0.6), the command may not work due to manufacturer restrictions β in which case, try updating the firmware or using alternative methods.
Method 5: Alternative solutions for persistent cases
If none of the above methods worked, donβt despair β there are a few more options:
1. Change of launcher
Some third-party launchers (such as Nova Launcher or Lawnchair) have their own battery display settings.
- π§ Go to the launcher settings
- π Find the Notification Panel or Status String section
- π Activate the percentage display
2. Custom firmware
On devices with an unlocked bootloader, you can install custom firmware (for example, LineageOS or Pixel Experience), where the battery settings are more flexible.
3. Update/roll back firmware
Sometimes a bug with charging percentages appears after the MIUI update.
- π Check for new updates in Settings β The phone. β Updating the system
- π If the problem appears after the update, roll back to the previous version via Fastboot (instructions are on the forum). 4PDA)
| Xiaomi model | MIUI version | Does the standard method work? | Alternative method |
|---|---|---|---|
| Redmi Note 12 Pro+ | MIUI 14.0.4 | Yes. | β |
| POCO X5 Pro | MIUI 14.0.3 | No (ADB needed) | Adb shell settings put global battery_percent 1 |
| Xiaomi 13 Ultra | HyperOS 1.0 | Yes (in AOD settings) | β |
| Redmi 10C | MIUI 13.0.8 | Partially (only on the lock screen) | Battery Percentage widget |
| Black Shark 4 | MIUI 12.5 Enhanced | No. | Change of launcher or custom firmware |

If your Xiaomi model doesnβt display charging percentages in any way, itβs probably a firmware restriction, in which case you can either put up with the lack of numbers or consider installing custom software (with the risk of losing warranty).
Frequent problems and their solutions
Even after the successful inclusion of charging percentages, users face additional nuances.
1. Percentages are shown but not updated
If the numbers are "frozen" on one value:
- π Reset the device
- π Turn off and reconnect the charger.
- π οΈ Reset the battery settings in Settings β Battery β βοΈ β Resetting battery statistics
2.Percentage disappears after reboot
This is a typical problem for devices with custom firmware or modified cores.
- π§ Check for updates for your firmware
- π₯ Reinstall firmware with full wip (reset)
- π οΈ Use the Magisk Battery Percent Enabler (for rooted devices)
3. Percentages are displayed incorrectly (e.g. 100% at 80%)
This is a sign of a battery controller malfunction or calibration failure.
- π Calibrate the battery: completely discharge the phone, then charge to 100% without interruptions
- π§ Reset settings through Settings β System system β Resetting settings β Reset all settings (without deleting data)
- π οΈ Contact the service center - it is possible to replace the battery
π‘
If the percentage of charging jumps (e.g., 50% to 30% per second), this may indicate battery wear and tear. Check the battery's health in the AccuBattery app or through the engineering menu (#4636##).
Attention. β οΈ
On dual-battery devices (such as the Black Shark 5 Pro), percentages may not be displayed correctly due to the controllerβs specific operation, in which case only trust the built-in diagnostics in Settings β Battery β Battery Condition.
